It's that time again: a few weeks into the Perils in Paradise expansion, we can now look forward to a new Season for Battlegrounds! With Season 8 comes a new seasonal mechanic: Trinkets. Let's give a quick rundown:
- Trinkets provide passive powers that you'll benefit from for the rest of the game.
- On turns 6 and 9, you'll be offered four (4) Trinkets to select from, purchasing one of them.
- Turn 6 provides "Lesser" Trinkets, while turn 9 provides "Greater" Trinkets; some passives exist in both pools, allowing you to double-up!
- Trinket offerings are based in-part on your Hero, the available Minion types, and your current Warband.
To peruse the full information, including a new Hero - Marin the Manager - and a Rewards Track refresh, see the quote below. Over the next few days, we'll see reveals for the 27 new minions coming to Battlegrounds, plus the Trinkets themselves; stay tuned for more!
Quote From Blizzard No vacation is complete without a stop at the souvenir shop. But this is a unique boutique: it sells magical Trinkets—the new Battlegrounds seasonal mechanic! Come see what’s in store for Battlegrounds Season 8, Trinkets & Travels, launching on August 20!
With Season 8, Battlegrounds Ratings will reset (for both regular Battlegrounds and Duos) and Buddies will rotate out of the Tavern to make room for new Trinkets.
New Mechanic: Trinkets
Trinkets are special passive power-ups that you buy with Gold and use for the rest of the game—kind of like Quest Rewards. Trinkets are offered twice per game: on turns 6 and 9. Each offering, you’ll get 4 Trinkets to choose from.
In total, there are 56 Lesser Trinkets (turn 6) and 60 Greater Trinkets (turn 9) coming in Season 8! Some Trinkets have a Lesser and a Greater version–letting you diversify or double-up on your effects!
Your Trinket offerings and their Costs are influenced by your Hero, the Minion Types in the game, and your Warband to ensure you’ll always be offered something exciting to build from.
New Hero: Marin the Manager
Want a special Trinket offer? Speak to the Manager! Marin the Manager is coming to Battlegrounds in Season 8, bringing you an extra Trinket—and one turn early, to boot!
