Nintendo has released a video overview of next month's release of Super Mario Party Jamboree. The game introduces us to a brand new 20-player online mode, and brings back the usual expectations of game boards, minigames, local, and online multiplayer. Let's take a look at what we're getting.
Mario Party Mode
- Up to four players can play the main mode of Mario Party.
- There are 7 boards included, more than usual!
- Mega Wiggler's Tree Party - Paths on the board change each time Wiggler moves.
- Roll 'em Raceway - Features characters driving race cars on a track.
- Goomba Lagoon - Tides change the board, hiding paths.
- Rainbow Galleria - There are shops where you can buy items and stars at discounts.
- King Bowser's Keeps - Chaos when its Bowser's turn.
- Western Land - Makes a return from Mario Party 2 from the N64 (a classic!)
- Mario's Rainbow Castle - Makes a return from the original Mario Party (even more of a classic!)
- There are over 110 mini games available to play.
- You can pick up a Jamboree Buddy during gameplay who gain special abilities like copying opponent's items, or launching you across the board.
- The mode is available to be played offline, online with friends, and online with matchmaking.
Minigames & Minigame Bay
- There are over 110 minigames included in Super Mario Party Jamboree.
- Some games have motion controls and will require the use of a Joy-Con controller.
- Games that have motion controls are not available in online mode or on Nintendo Switch Lite.
- Minigame Bay allows you to just play minigames instead of the traditional board game.
Koopathlon
- A special 20-player online mode.
- Play games to collect coins, each coin collected helps advance you on the massive board.
- Special 20-person mini games are also available to play during the Koopathlon.
- Losing games can have severe consequences, booting you back far.
- Cross the finish line first to win.
Bowser Kaboom Squad
- An 8-player online mode with friends or random players from around the world.
- Join forces to collect bombs to defeat imposter Bowser.
- You only have 5 rounds to defeat Bowser.
- Each round features a co-op minigame with all 8 players, which provides opportunities to obtain special items to aid in the fight.
