PlayStation as a brand is celebrating their 30th anniversary, with Sony preparing a special package for PS5 owners with new themes that honors previous installments from PlayStation.
It came as a huge surprise as players switched on their PS5 to discover the unique sound. The initial one can be traced back to 1995 when Sony started taking over the gaming market.
Those with a PSX will note that the previously mentioned sound has a deep connection to one’s emotions, and cannot be easily forgotten. Something pops up on the television screen and it’s the typical golden logo from Sony Entertainment.
PS5 Surprises Everyone with New Themes Honoring Earlier PlayStation Consoles
PlayStation has ensured that game lovers never get bored in their free time, especially holidays when family and friends come visiting. Now, the brand has decided to appreciate its users after reaching a huge milestone – making a positive impact in the gaming world for more than three decades – and it had so much to appreciate its users for. PlayStation stated on its website that:
“For the past three decades, we've shared an incredible journey, building stories and shaping experiences together. Along the way, we've found adventure, laughter, and lasting memories far beyond any one moment. We've forged new friendships and redefined what gaming is all about. Thank you for being part of this journey — we couldn't have done it without you.”
What's more, PlayStation appreciates and loves its users. That's why it doesn’t just offer classic games in its arsenal, but also excitement-bringing casino variations. You can play games like High Roller, Four Kings Casino and Slots and lots more on the console just for excitement purposes and to get positive emotions. As revealed by igaming experts from KaszinokBiz, “You can withdraw your winnings by playing only in real casinos. Even with minimal experience there is always a chance to hit the jackpot, and this can be done with additional bonuses, gift spins, and other promotions.”
Its massive surprise for users comes from a software update. Users are required to do an update by restarting their device, then something strange happens – a different sound and new screens, with PS5 owners allowed to make their selection from five differently styled themes. It states that:
"You can change parts of the PS5 design based on your favorite generation of PlayStation. Select a design to apply to your home screen and other areas."
All themes have a similar style to initial PlayStation consoles. Furthermore, there’s a theme specially dedicated for the brand’s 30th anniversary. The startup sound is that typical of the first-developed PlayStation.
The themes released for the anniversary made some changes to the top bar on the home or main screen, and the quick menu bar that can be activated by tapping the controller’s PS button. There’s also a change in the clock symbol.
Sony Reveals that the Themes Won’t Stay for a Long Time
There’s a wide belief that lots of gamers would prefer that the themes remain forever. For long, gamers haven’t felt it was necessary to change their console’s visual interface. However, they now see the need to customize their home screen, presenting it with a unique character. These set of gamers would probably prefer that these newly-integrated themes remain on PlayStation 5 permanently.
This may be possible in the near future. These previously released themes from Sony consoles are just the initial and test phase of this feature that has now become a permanent component of the software.
It is worth noting that in 2014, when PlayStation celebrated its 20th anniversary a decade ago, it did something similar but not as much. Back then, it gave out an anniversary theme where it fitted the Vita, PS3, and PS4 with the startup sound and appearance.
Final Thoughts
PlayStation has been here for three decades and it’s obvious that this new update has put smiles on the faces of users. We’re not sure how long these themes will stay on your PS5, but you can enjoy it while it lasts.
