Animal Crossing New Horizons Has a New Limited-time Event in Japan

Published 10 months ago by

Why does Japan always get all the cool stuff? Starting on February 1 and running through Valentine's Day, February 14, players in Japan will be able to access two new items in-game to gift to residents of their islands.

The "Heart Chocolate" and "Heart Rose Bouquet" items will be available to hand out and by doing so, will enter players into a special giveaway of badges featuring Tom Nook, Isabelle, and Brewster. 1000 players will end up randomly selected to receive these prizes, and if the prizes are unclaimed, Nintendo will be holding an additional lottery to pick new winners.

That's not it though. On Valentine's Day, and only then, there will be new conversations available for your villagers. Of course, that's Japan-only so none of that matters to any of us outside, but it does make us wonder... why? Animal Crossing hasn't received any updates in some time but now that the Switch 2 is clearly on the horizon, could it be that Nintendo is starting to trickle out small updates to bring back players? Having a new Animal Crossing title on the Switch 2 would be fantastic, though hopefully we can give up on the island life and head in a direction more akin to New Leaf with its ever-expanding updates.

In non-game-related-Animal-Crossing-but-still-Valentine's-Day-news, wow that was a long one, Nintendo also has a promotion going with Godiva where you can purchase real chocolates with Animal Crossing themes. Wait, is this whole thing just a ruse to sell us chocolate? The chocolates, and tins they come in, look cute and you should definitely check out them down below.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm feeling snacky.
