We've got a release date, a character creator, and a benchmark all live and revealed today for the upcoming sci-fi survival game, Dune Awakening. The game releases on May 20, 2025.

If you want to check out how the game performs on your PC, a download is available starting today that will allow you to benchmark your system ahead of the release date. Seeing as how we've got a new generation of Nvidia graphics cards out this month, now is a great time to see if your rig is up to the task of newer titles. We will get a peak at a couple of scenes in the game, a soaring with an ornithopter and a dramatic encounter with a colossal sandworm!

As far as download size goes, we're looking at a 16.5 GB download for Dune: Awakening's character creator and benchmark. Installed? 17.13 GB.
Three scenes in total run during the benchmark, after which you will receive your FPS scores and the quality settings that were in use for the duration of the benchmark. Here are my results for a Ryzen 7 5800X and 3080 TI running the game at 1440p on ULTRA settings. This was the automatic settings, but if you want, you can play around with the settings inside of the settings option on the main screen to adjust them before the benchmark runs.

But, benchmarking is not the only thing available in the download, a character creator is too. There are a ton of options so you could sit here playing around with the character creator for many hours to perfect your avatar. Creating your character will allow it to carry over into the game upon its launch in May.
Available in the creator is tuning every aspect of your looks, your home planet, caste, and mentor. There are a lot of decisions to make and you've got a few months to make them, redo them, and redo them again for the truly indecisive, so enjoy not having to do this the day the game launches.
You will need to import into the final game at launch, it will be saved into your Documents folder as a JSON file. This does mean that you are free to create as many characters as you would like, with each one getting its own filename.
Oh, and if you do create a character or run the benchmark, you will receive a code for an exclusive "Frameblade knife skin" that you can redeem on the game launch.

But, it appears that these are not codes unique to each person who downloads it so "exclusivity" is a bit of a miss there. The code is WAKE-THE-SLEEPER. Once the game launches use this code to obtain your Frameblade knife skin.
Dune: Awakening Has Ultrawide Support
Discovered inside the settings UI of Dune: Awakening, under User Interface, is "Ultrawide Support".
We don't have any details on what this does right now, but we're going to assume that it will force the UI To the center area of the screen instead of seeing it in all the corners.
Dune Awakening Pre-Order Details
If you place a pre-order prior to the May 20 release date of Dune Awakening, you will receive the Terrarium of Muad’Dib, an in-base decoration which houses a desert mouse.
Dune: Awakening releases on May 20 and will be available on Steam. No news on console releases is available at this time.
