Nintendo announced earlier today that they'll be implementing a Virtual Game Card system for their titles (and possibly third party titles). This should allow you to more easily share games with other people, or between your own consoles.

What are virtual game cards? They behave like regular game cards, but in a virtual environment. You'll be able to eject them and change which game you play just like a regular game card. It's unclear if this will interfere with physical cards already in your system, but it shouldn't.

Can I share them with other people? Yes, to a degree. If you have a second system, you'll be able to transfer them between the two. You can also share them for up to 8 family members as part of a family group.

How long can I share them for? Between your two systems, it seems to be indefinite. To family members, they'll be returned to you after 14 days, though any save data they have will remain on their system.

How many games can I share? The sender can lend as many titles as they want, but they can only share one title to each console at a time.

Can I still play the games I lend? The video announcement didn't mention this, but it's safe to assume that no, you can't.

Can I sell them? No. Or at least Nintendo didn't mention it, but probably no.

When will this feature be available? Nintendo plans to add Virtual Cards in late April via a Software update, and it'll also be available on the Switch 2.
