Do you think the price of the Nintendo Switch 2 is too high? Well, it might to get worse for some, as Nintendo announced they'll be delaying pre-orders for the console in the United States of America as a result of recently-announced tariffs, according to multiple news outlets. The Switch 2 was supposed to go for pre-order on the 9th of April, but that is no longer the case.
For those not in the know, US President Trump announced a number of tariffs for various countries across the globe. Of interest for gamers are Taiwan, where most of the manufacturing of CPUs and GPUs takes place, and Vietnam, where Nintendo manufactures their consoles.
The launch date of the Switch 2 is the same, June 5th, and it's unclear if the overall price will be increased once you can pre-order again. There's also no information on increasing the price of physical games. Check out all the information about the Switch 2, or take a look at the list of upcoming games.
Quote From Multiple Sources Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S. will not start April 9, 2025 in order to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions, Nintendo will update timing at a later date. The launch date of June 5, 2025 is unchanged.

Tariffs or not, I think they’ll use this as an excuse to bump the price anyway. I’ll get one eventually, but probably not day one unless it really delivers.
