1. Dark and Darker Mobile
Dark and Darker is a PvPvE game that’s extremely popular on PC right now. So, Dark and Darker Mobile brings the dungeons of the PC game to mobile, where the objective is to either make it out (with loot) or die trying. And yes, other players are hunting you, too.
The game was released for both iOS and Android and has amassed scores of 4.6 and 4.5 on both platforms, respectively. It’s free (with in-game purchases), and it’s definitely hard to master.
Combat is well-developed (like your sword actually has weight to it), and there are many parts of the game that make it complicated, like traps, magic, and loot. Many users have been rage-quitting and reinstalling it over and over again, but the game also features surprisingly smooth matchmaking for mobile.
2. I Am Your Best
If you like your mobile games weird, this might be the game for you. I Am Your Best is hard to explain. It’s sort of an action-puzzle hybrid that has abstract storytelling and adds horror to it. The objective is part survival but part mind-bender, where you need to figure things out throughout the game and the environment. This is definitely not a game for everyone, but if you happen to like it, we believe you’ll love it.
Currently, the game is only available for iOS through the App Store, with a rating of 4.8. Based on the information that’s on the official website, the Android app is still in development. The game is priced at $4.99 and it has great graphics (although your battery won’t thank you for it).
3. Crashlands 2
Crashlands 2 is a follow-up to one of the most beloved (and most downloaded) mobile RPT games of the 2010s. If you have ever played the original Crashlands, you’ll be familiar with the chaotic gameplay, innovative storytelling, and open-world-like exploration. You crash on a planet again (of course), but since this is a new game, the world is much bigger, the humour is much better, and the graphics are improved dramatically.
There’s a lot of content in the game like biome-hopping, pet taming, side quests, and endless items and missions, so it has hours and hours of gameplay. It’s a bit pricey at $9.99, but it’s available for both iOS and Android with scores of 4.7 on the App Store and 4.6 on the Play Store. The price is also a one-time that unlocks everything, so there are no additional costs.
4. Tamagotchi Plaza
Guess what? Tamagotchi is back! And no, this is not just some cheap nostalgia trip.
Tamagotchi Plaza is a game that’s based on the pet craze we had in the early 2000s, but this time, the game is on mobile (and Nintendo Switch). The idea is the same: you still raise your Tamagotchi like your pet. You feed it, clean up after it, hope it doesn’t die, etc - but now you can also socialise it. You can hang out in a virtual plaza with other people’s Tamagotchis, visit cafes, enter contests, and even go on dates.
If you’re a 90s kid, this game is a real-time-sink! You log in to check on your buddy, and the next thing you know, you are redecorating your digital apartment and are an hour late.
The game is available on iOS and Android, is free (with in-app purchases), and has a great rating of 4.5 and 4.4, respectively.
5. Dredge: Pocket Waters
The original Dredge game was a game that creeped people out on PC and console, and Dredge: Pocket Waters is now creeping people out on mobile. It’s a truly excellent port with great visuals and great gameplay. The game is about fishing, but the fish are sometimes wrong.
It’s a subtle horror game with great gameplay and is available on iOS and Android for $5.99 with scores of 4.7 and 4.6 - respectively.
