After being long-rumored and leaving us with little in terms of official information, Bethesda surprisingly announced that a remaster for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is out now. And by out now, I mean that you can literally buy it right now as we speak on Steam, and is coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one. It's confirmed to be available for PS5, but doesn't appear to be on the store right now.
You can watch a livestream hosted by Jessica Finster and Wes Johnson down below which contains gameplay of the Shivering Isles DLC. It's a bit hard to see because all of the gameplay footage is relegated to the bottom-right corner, but the game has been modernized with a Skyrim UI and to play a bit more like Skyrim than the original Oblivion release did, although all of the details are yet to be known at this time.

But what about Skyblivion you may ask? For the uninitiated, Skyblivion is a conversion mod for Skyrim to essentially play Oblivion in Skyrim that's been in development for quite a while now but has been slowly but surely giving updated on its progress throughout the 2020s and even had a gameplay demo video just two months ago. At the moment, Skyblivion is known to still be in progress with plans to release this year in spite of the remaster being launched, but only time will tell how it holds up compared to the official remaster. For all we know at the moment, either one of them could come out on top as the official way to play Oblivion in HD.
