Should You Trust New Online Casinos?

Published 6 months, 1 week ago by

Online casinos are more popular than ever worldwide, and I believe that one of the main reasons for this is because of how trustworthy today’s safest sites have become in terms of data protection, cybersecurity, and their commitment to protecting players like me in various other ways, such as providing safer gambling tools.

The iGaming industry’s most trusted brands, many of which have been successfully operating for 10 to 20 years or longer, have established excellent track records and built solid reputations for themselves.

These days, the industry is saturated with online casinos, meaning there are plenty of sites to choose from. However, the sheer volume of sites can sometimes prove challenging when players like me are looking for somewhere else to play.

If you’re like me and have tried all of the famous brands, which I find are pretty much all the same regarding the products and services they offer, and you decide that you want to try a new online casino that’s different from the older, well-established brands, the question that you may have already asked yourself is ‘how do you know if that site is safe if it has only been around for a few months?’

Let’s dive straight in to find out.

Can all new online casinos be trusted?

Unfortunately, not all new online casinos can be trusted. The only ones that simply cannot be trusted and must be avoided at all costs are those that are either completely unlicensed and unregulated or those that have obtained a license from what is referred to as a bottom-tier or rubber-stamp licensing authority.

The only new online casinos that can be trusted are those that have obtained their operating license from a globally renowned, mid or top-tier licensing authority/regulatory body or official gaming commission that oversees online gambling activities in your region.

Online casinos that are fully licensed and regulated by a mid/top-tier authority will be controlled by reputable operators who are transparent in their funding and run honest day-to-day operations, meaning you can trust the site whether it is brand new or has been operating for 10 to 20 years or longer.

A new online casino is typically classed as being less than two years old, and it’s much harder for new sites to have built up a decent reputation. However, that doesn’t mean to say that you should trust them any less than older online casinos.

In fact, I’ve found that many of my favourite sites are the newest ones that I’ve joined in recent years.

What are the important things to look out for in a good new site?

The important things that I always look for in a good new online casino are the following:

  • Licensing and regulation – I always look for new sites that are licensed by my local gaming commission (the United Kingdom Gambling Commission). If they are licensed here, then I know that the UKGC will have carried out rigorous background checks, in-depth investigations, and thorough testing before issuing them with a license
  • Excellent reviews and player feedback – before signing up to a new online casino, I will always check the expert reviews first on today’s most trusted iGaming review sites. For example, I’ve found that the most honest, in-depth, accurate, and insightful online casino reviews for the safest new sites can be seen on CTO (CasinoTopsOnline). If the reviews/player feedback is positive, and the site has a high ranking position or rating score, then I know it’s going to be worth my time
  • Games and software – a good new online casino will always have thousands of computer-generated and live dealer games from award-winning software providers, with something to suit all types of players. Many of the newest sites I’ve joined also tend to have a decent selection of exclusive games that can’t be found elsewhere
  • Bonuses and promotions – new online casinos tend to have more lucrative/frequent bonuses and promotions with low to medium wagering requirements and offer plenty of things like daily log-in bonuses, loyalty rewards, challenges/leaderboards, prize draw giveaways, free spins bonuses, matching deposit bonuses, no deposit bonuses, cashback bonuses, and so on
  • Payment methods and payout speeds – the other thing I’ve noticed about the best new online casino websites is that they typically accept more online payment methods than older online casinos and are much quicker at processing withdrawals

Final thoughts

To sum up, the vast majority of new online casinos can be trusted, provided they are licensed and regulated by well-known authorities and controlled by reputable companies. However, it’s always best to check the expert reviews before signing up anywhere, just to determine if the site you are considering joining is safe or not.

One of the other things I have noticed about the best new online casinos I have joined in recent years is how committed they are to protecting me and ensuring that I never overspend.

I’ve found that as soon as I sign up anywhere, I am encouraged to set things like deposit limits, session time reminders, or win/loss limits, known as safer gambling tools, to ensure that I never spend more than I can afford to lose, which is think is fantastic and helps foster a sense of trust in the industry as a whole.

Whenever you sign up to a new online casino, remember to read the expert review first, and don’t forget to head to the responsible gambling section to manually set whichever safer gambling tools you think will help you the most.

Setting limits keeps things safe and fun and means you should always be able to remain within any sensible spending budget that you decide to set before playing.
