Published 4 months, 1 week ago by (Updated 4 months, 1 week ago)

We just had a mid-summer Pokémon presents, and it was... Fine. The highlights were the announcement of Pokémon Friends, and new details regarding Champions and Legends Z-A, as well as some news for Scarlet and Violet. You can watch the whole presentation below, or read this article for a quick breakdown. Let's get into it!

Rapid-Fire Round

Before we get to the meat of the presentation, here's a bunch of stuff that got quick announcements during the video:

  • Raikou, Entei and Suicune are coming to Pokémon Sleep in September, alongside a new area - Amber Canyon - in November.
  • Carmie and Sinistcha are coming to Pokémon Master EX.
  • Pokémon Concierge is getting new episodes on Netflix on September 4th.
  • A new series, Pokémon Tales: Sirfech'd and Pichu, is coming later this year from Aardmand Animation (Shaun the Sheep, Wallace and Gromit).
  • PokéPark Kanto is an outdoor Pokémon park that will open in Japan in the near future.
  • A new Lapras skin is coming to Pokémon Café Remix.
  • A new event in Pokémon GO brings Gigantamax forms to the game.
  • Latias, Latios, and the Pawmi line are coming to Pokémon Unite.
  • Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution launches on September 26th.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

In case you weren't aware, there's a free upgrade for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet on the Switch 2 that improves performance and graphics. There's also a new Terra Raid event starting tomorrow, focusing on the Treasures of Ruin:

  • Each Treasure will be available for about to weeks:
    • Wo-Chien (Grass): July 23 – Aug 3
    • Chien-Pao (Ice): Aug 4 – Aug 17
    • Ting-Lu (Ground): Aug 18 – Aug 31
    • Chi-Yu (Fire): Sep 1 – Sep 15
  • All of them will be Shiny Pokémon.
  • Unlike most Terra Raids, each Pokémon will have to be defeated 1 million times (collectively, not by each player) before it's added to your team.
  • Mass outbreaks will also happen at the same time as the Raid periods, each corresponding with the secondary typing of each Treasure (in parentheses above).
  • You can unlock a special tracksuit apparel item with the codes below:
    • STRACKSU1T for Scarlet
    • VTRACKSU1T for Violet

Pokémon Friends

A new mobile game focused on various puzzle mini-games themed after various Pokémon. Should already be available for free on Android, iOS, and the Nintendo Switch.

Pokémon Champions

Teased during the last Pokémon Presents, Champions looks to be aimed at competitive players. The game lets you port over your existing Pokémon from the Home app, or capture new ones within the game. It also offers a huge level of customizability, so you can make the perfect teams to go in battle with.

Pokémon Legends Z-A

Last, but certainly not least, we got to see more of Legends Z-A. Namely, we got to see Team MZ, which we'll be spending most of our time with. This includes Urban/Taunie, which were already revealed, Naveen; a fashion designer; and Lida, who want to become a professional dancer. There's also Corbeau, the leader of the Rust Syndicate (likely the evil team for the game); Emma, a detective in Lumiose City; and Mabel, the acting director at the Pokémon Research Lab.

We also got to take a good look at some of the customization options for your trainer, and a tease for the ability to change the appearance of your Pokémon. Finally, we got confirmation of new Mega forms appearing in the game, with the one showed in the video being for Dragonite.

Finally, those getting the game early will have access to a Ralts holding a Gardevoirite Stone (which confirms Mega stones will still be necessary to Mega Evolve) and 100 extra Poké Balls (which are notoriously hard to get /s). Those will be available until February 28th, and the game comes out October 16th, so you have about 4 and a half months to claim them.
