Gamescom opening night just concluded, and with it came a massive list of new game announcements. In this article, we're going to briefly look at all of them and give them a brief discussion. You can also watch the entire opening night here.
Here's every new game that was announced at Gamescom opening night in order of appearance.
Bubsy 4D
Developer: Fabraz
Release date: To be announced
A new Bubsy game? What could possibly go wrong?
Everyone's (least) favorite bobcat is back once again, because Bubsy has the miraculous ability to never ever die. Even in the trailer, he has PTSD from having been in so many bad games. After being out of the picture for 21 years, he returned in 2017 with Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back, and now after not having a game for 6 years, he is back once again with Bubsy 4D. Will he finally have one good game? I wouldn't blame you if you weren't willing to spend the money to find out, but one of these days, we may finally see the bobcat strike gold. And when that happens, society will never shut up about it.
Run, jump, glide, collect yarn... inflate? Classic Bubsy style 3D platforming with about a million times the polygons of his last previous 3D outing. There's no release date announced, but you can wishlist the game now.
Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes
Developer: Dotemu
Release date: Early 2026 (no specific date)
Bubsy isn't the only franchise seeing a revival at Gamescom either. Battlestar Galactica is a name we haven't heard anything of since 2017 when Battlestar Galactica Deadlock was released. Now in early 2026 comes Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hope, a new real-time strategy space combat game where the Cylons have won the war, and now you're forced with tough decision after tough decision to survive after fleeing from defeat.
Outlaws + Handful of Missions Remastered
Developer: LucasArts/Nightdive Studios
Release Date: To be announced
Yes, this is crazy but we have yet another revival on our hands. Outlaws was a Doom-esque first-person shooter from 1997 with an expansion pack titled Handful of Missions in 1998. Nearly three decades later, and the game has a remaster announced at Gamescom. Hop in the saddle with James Anderson one more time as you avenge your wife your wife and rescue your daughter, this time with updated visuals and online multiplayer.
Denshattack!
Developer: Undercoders
Release date: Spring 2026 (no specific date)
If the Runner games and OlliOlli World combined into one game, Denshattack would be that game. In this game, you control a train driving at blisteringly fast speeds along the train tracks while jumping, grinding, pulling off cool tricks, and battling evil machines made out of random objects. It's a bit too absurd to describe with words since things go off the rails so quickly (heh).
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction
Developer: Bitmap Bureau
Release date: To be announced
He-Man is back with all of his friends and some his enemies for a new 2D style beat-em-up. Play as one of four playable characters as you fight through Eternia to recover what I can only assume is a pearl of draconic origin with destructive properties as you use your sword or your spells to go through anyone who stands in your way in classic arcade style. We only know that the game is coming soon, but you have the power!!! to wishlist the game on Steam now.
Valor Mortis
Developer: One More Level
Release date: 2026 (no specific date)
From the creators of Ghostrunner, Valor Mortis sees you control a soldier from in the Napoleonic Wars, but this isn't quite the 1800s we're using to hearing about because we've got witchcraft and monsters all along the battlefield. With the ability to use swords, bayonets, and magic, play through an alternate history where the army of Napoleon Bonaparte had supernatural enemies and powers to overcome.

Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight
Developer: TT Games

He is vengeance. He is the night. He is... Lego!

La Divina Commedia
Developer: Jyamma Games

This is totally not Dante's Inferno, what are you talking about? Dante Alghieri's 14th century poem gets transformed into another video game, but there's nothing funny about the way The Divine Comedy is set up here. Grab a sword and fight off powerful demons as you descend through infernal depths. Despite the trailer saying you can wishlist the game on Steam, the game does not have a Steam page at the time of writing this.

Black Myth: Zhong Kui
Developer: Game Science
Release date: To be announced
Black Myth returns after bringing the Monkey Kong to his video game glory. This time, Zhong Kui, a ghost hunter in Chinese mythology, takes the spotlight. We currently have not much context for the game outside of what little we can gather from the trailer. However, given the legend of Zhong Kui, it seems reasonable to assume that the game will have a huge focus on supernatural monsters.
