Activision, the video game publisher that owns the rights to Call of Duty (and is also the supervisor of the Call of Duty League), has announced the incorporation of new anti-cheat measures for the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Beta weekend. The company has undertaken all necessary measures to implement Secure Boot and TPM 2.0, making it as difficult as possible for scammers to cheat during the game.

So, all participants of 2025's Call of Duty must use Secure Boot and TPM 2.0. Such a step will not only make the whole game more fair for participants. It will also make eSports betting more accurate as one’s evaluations of participants’ strengths and playstyle will be more correct.
Why Anti-Cheat Systems Matter
Anti-cheat systems are the “referees of eSports”. In August alone, Activision’s anti-cheat measures caught more than 55K cheaters in Call of Duty! Professional players were affected by chatters who prevented them from performing different in-game actions. As it becomes obvious, with a huge diversity of amateur Call of Duty tournaments and Challengers held online, the arrival of robust anti-cheat measures in the upcoming Black Ops 7 release is an essential step.
Cheats normally bypass software-level protection with code injection at the kernel or boot level. Meanwhile, TPM and Secure Boot will make it almost impossible for these cheats to remain undetected. This will ensure that only trusted and digitally signed software will be allowed to run at startup.
Black Ops 7 Overview: What’s Been Added?
The announcement about the involvement of Secure Boot and TPM 2.0 was inside an X article, published by Activision on September 22nd, 2025, just ahead of The Black Ops 7 beta. The event will run on October 2nd and will be held till October 8th. The multiplier beta will be split into Early Access (October 2nd to 5th) for those who have certain Game Pass subscriptions or have made pre-orders, and Open Beta (October 5th to 8th). The latter will be free on all platforms for any player.
Thanks to the new security measures, Activision will keep the playing field level, maintain trust, protect fair players’ careers, and ensure the industry’s sustainable growth.
Aside from the security measures, the developer has worked on the following aspects:
- Maps: The new beta will release with 16 6-vs-6 maps. Three of them will be Raid, Hijacked, and Express.
- Weapons: Call of Duty enthusiasts will enjoy roughly 30 weapons that can be divided into 9 categories, including Assault rifles, SMGs, LMGs, Shotguns, Launchers, Pistols, Melee, Sniper rifles, and Marksman rifles. Sixteen out of these 30 weapons will debut in Ops 7, while others are already familiar to players (the M8A1 assault rifle from Ops 2 gets back via a Marksman rifle now).
- Overlock system: The Ops 7 will be introduced with an Overlock system. The main benefits of the latter cover a decrease in Field Upgrade and a reduction in Scorestreak cost. You can especially feel the effect of these new features on the loadouts used in competitive play.
- Movement: The new Omnimovement system has already been much talked about. This year’s release includes wall jumps (can also be chained together) while the Tac Sprint mechanic will already serve as an Optional Perk, rather than a mandatory feature.
- Overload mode: Black Ops 7 will debut with an Overload mode. This means players will have to compete for opponents’ control zones by obtaining control over a single device. For disrupting an enemy zone, the device will reset, and the team will score points.
Take into consideration all these changes and how they can impact pro players’ efficiency when the time comes for betting in the next Call of Duty League.
How Will the New Changes Affect Esports?

All the changes players will see in Black Ops 7 will have an impact on eSports. For instance, the new Overload mode may replace any of the existing ones in the Call of Duty League. Meanwhile, the new movement mechanics will increase the skill gap, thus resulting in even more tense competition soon. Also, depending on how a player balanced the arsenal, the weapon categories in Black Ops 7 might be debuting in competitive play.
And finally, the integration of new security measures promises fairer matches in competitive play where not only money but also reputation are at stake. Esports tournaments almost always run on provided PCs. And with the new security measures requirement, secure builds will be enforced across all systems. No pre-installed or slipped-in hidden exploits will be possible. Call of Duty will, from now on, be a more stable anti-cheat environment for players, investors, and bettors alike.
