Crack Open Your Hearthstone Packs Early With the Pre-Release Tavern Brawl on October 28

A pre-release Tavern Brawl, the wonderful signal of opening your packs early for a new expansion, arrives tomorrow, October 28 alongside Patch 34.0 (that's a lot of major patch versions...).

Entry into the Tavern Brawl will be free for your first run, but subsequent runs will cost 2 Tavern Tickets, 300 Gold, or 400 Runestones, but we're playing for a special set of rewards which increase as you win more games. Your chosen deck retires at 6 Wins or 3 Losses, whichever you hit first, and then rewards are dished out. Here's the reward structure:

You're guaranteed to get 2 card packs from a 0 loss run, 1 from the upcoming Across the Timeways expansion and the other from The Lost City of Un'Goro which means your 300 Gold will convert into 200 Gold worth of packs.

To get the full value of a Gold entry, you'll need to hit 3 Wins (or achieve a 50/50 winrate with your chosen deck) to earn yourself 2 Across the Timeways packs and a single Un'Goro pack. If Un'Goro packs aren't your think though, hitting 4 Wins does get you 3 Across the Timeways packs and a single Common Card from the set... which is effectively irrelevant when you consider how much dust everyone earns from common cards when opening their card packs.

The Brawl will require you to make your own decks, which can be made from the following card sets:

• Across the Timeways
• The Lost City of Un’Goro
• Day of Rebirth Mini-Set
• Core Set
• Event Set
• Note: Dive the Golakka Depths will be banned.

If you manage to hit 6 wings during this Brawl event, you'll earn yourself an achievement which will reward you with 2x Tavern Tickets and 1x Across the Timeways pack, which will get you in for another run. The Across the Timeways Pre-Release Tavern Brawl begins October 28 after the release of Patch 34.0 and will run until the expansion launches on November 4.

Patch 34.0 will also include a bunch of Battlegrounds balance changes, a fresh rotation for the Hearthstone Arena, and an upcoming questline to earn yourself a world championship card back.
