Warhammer Survivors Arrives in 2026 and Features 40k & Age of Sigmar Heroes

The creators of Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun have announced a new game in partnership with the creators of Vampire Survivors - Warhammer Survivors!

A fast-paced Warhammer-themed roguelite survivors game? Sign me up! Characters from both the 40,000 and Age of Sigmar universes collide in the new title making its debut sometime next year in 2026. Warhammer Survivors is being made in collaboration with Poncle, the creators of the namesake of the survivors genre, Vampire Survivors, and as a part of that partnership will be using the Vampire Survivors engine. This is not a DLC to Vampire Surviors, but a standalone game.

The game looks absolutely beautiful - from the short bits of gameplay we've been able to see so far. The familiarity of the Vampire Survivors engine is a very smart decision because we'll immediately drop into a game that plays the way you want it to. Add in heroes and foes from two of Warhammer's universes and you've got yourself a recipe for success. There are a ton of "bad" Warhammer-themed games out there and I feel safe in saying this is definitely not going to be one of them.

Hilariously, one of the upgrades available to you is "Nuln Oil" which for those that have painted Warhammer minis know that it's a bottle of liquid skill, giving you easy shading of your models. Nuln Oil, in this alpha version of the game, it looks as if it is a simply reskinned version of Santa Water, with the upgrade being offered being the exact same text as the Level 7 version of Santa Water which is "Effect lasts 0.3 seconds longer. Base damage up by 5".

This does make one wonder how much more of the game is going to be a reskinned version of Vampire Survivors. With over 130 weapons in Vampire Survivors, all Warhammer Survivors needs to do is add their flavor through a fresh coat of paint, reusing the existing logic. There's nothing wrong with that, but I do hope they find some unique things to do as well so it isn't just a rehash... even though I'd totally play a rehash.

Other weapons we can expect to see are the Boltgun, Astares Chainsword, and Whirlwind Axe. Being created by the Boltgun game creators, Malum Caedo, the protagonist, will also be featured in Warhammer Survivors. Other characters that have been announced are:

  • Cadian Shock Trooper, Kozlowski
  • Space Marine Intercessor, Brother Luca
  • Neave Blacktalon, living weapon of the God-King Sigmar
  • Stormcast Eternal Vanquisher, Sharynn Azurwath
  • Slayer, Gotrek Gurnisson

Both Skaven and Tyranid make their appearances as our enemies that will constantly be closing in around us.

Can I Play Warhammer Survivors? System Requirements

If you're able to play Vampire Survivors, which is not a difficult game to run, you will be able to run Warhammer Survivors. Here are the system requirements as stated on the Steam page.

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 10 Home 64-Bit
  • Processor: Dual Core 2.4 Ghz x86-64
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM
  • Graphics: GTX 750 or equivalent graphics card
  • Storage: 5 GB available space

So that's everything we know so far about Warhammer Survivors. The game looks incredible, though it may just be a reskinned Vampire Survivors - how do you feel about that? Should this have just been a large DLC instead of a standalone title? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Warhammer Survivors launches in 2026 and can be wishlisted on Steam.

  • I seriously can't wait to get my hands on this, even if it ends up just being a reskinned version of Vampire Survivors and quite literally since it's the same engine. The art just looks so good, but that's not surprising since Boltgun's art is incredible.
