Grand Theft Auto Vi(ce City) is out (on browsers)! The developers behind DOS Zone have managed to port the classic Rockstar game to internet browsers. I gave it a whirl myself, and it works really well, with the worst experience being a random moment where the screen went black because it had to load some assets. Keyboard controls work, cheats are there, controllers are supported (though you might want to rebind some keys).
What is DOS Zone, you ask? It's a web platform that lets you play games for DOS and older versions of Windows, which is how Vice City is playable here. There are a lot of games on the platform, including classics like Wolfenstein 3D, The Need for Speed, and Microsoft 3D Pinball: Space Cadet. The platform also supports local saves, but you'll need to pay for cloud saves.
The entire Vice City game is playable, but there is a caveat. You can't do the story mode, as you'll be prompted to give an exe file to prove that you own the game. Otherwise, you can explore the world to your hearth's content and do whatever you want in it. There's a good chance Rockstar will take this down for copyright infringement, so enjoy it while it's up.
What do you think of being able to play Vice City in your browser? Any other games you'll give another shot on the platform? What games do you want added to the service? Let us know in the comments below!
