It's the start of the new year and the OpenTTD crew have launched the newest complete version of the program, which notably comes with a new main menu design, updating the logo and coming with new splash screens.
Owning up to how infamous the original Toyland graphics were, this update has changed them entirely. So much so to the point where the team decided to make every splash screen on the main menu in this update consist entirely of Toyland maps.

The in-game UI has personally see a bit of a visual overhaul too, most notably the bar at the top. Personally, I preferred the way it looked in the previous version, but I'll warm up to this one in due time.

A couple of notable new features added in this version include the ability to manually place houses yourself in the Scenario Editor...

... and the ability to build bridges over stations. Previously, you were always plagued with the inability to build a bridge over a station, no matter how high above the bridge was over the station. Stations have a clearance of one height unit larger than standard railway tracks or roads, but we can rejoice anyway at the fact that we can now build over them in the first place.

For a really long time, waypoints were a feature exclusive to railroad trains and ships (via buoys), but this update adds waypoints for roads. If you know the way railroad waypoints or buoys work, then you'll already know how to use these.
