The January 2026 Xbox Direct is happening as we're speaking, and the first game showcased was Forza Horizon 6. The latest installment in the Microsoft open-world driving series will take players to Japan, as they burn rubber in Tokyo and surrounding areas.
The game's career mode will see you starting out as a tourist in Japan, who decides to take part in the titular Horizon festival. As you make your way through the ranks, you'll unlock new game modes and areas, as well as new vehicles to explore them with. The devs have studied and recorded the Japanese landscape to offer players an experience that's as authentic as it can get.
The game will come with over 550 cars at launch, which you'll be able to store in various garages across the map, as well as in the Estate, a barren patch of land that you'll be able to build all sorts of buildings as time goes on. You can do this either solo or with friends, as there are new multiplayer features when it comes to building the environment.
Speaking of, you'll be able to drive your cars either in the Japanese countryside, or in the city of Tokyo itself, which will be the largest urban map the series has seen to date. The game will boast a variety of game modes, like time attack, night races and, of course, free roam. Alongside these new modes are also a suite of accessibility options, like a high contrast mode.
The game will release on May 19th on Xbox and PC, with PlayStation 5 getting the game at a later date. You can find more in Xbox's official blog post or the live stream. Hopefully, the game will get a VR mode as well, please, please, please!
