The Burning Crusade Anniversary Edition's Final Phase Releases in 2026

That's some news! In today's State of Azeroth stream, Blizzard announced the entire roadmap for The Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary Edition!

The roadmap, which starts in just a couple of weeks with the Phase 1 launch on February 5, will have 5 total phases, and it's all going to be out before you can even blink. When compared to the original Burning Crusade Classic roadmap, which began on June 1, 2021 with the pre-patch and begain the Fury of the Sunwell phase almost an entire year later on May 10, 2022, this is a very sped-up version of The Burning Crusade.

This follows the WoW Classic Anniversary servers though as well, where we saw an accelerated phase distribution there as well. We're expecting Blizzard to confirm at this year's BlizzCon, after the release of The Black Temple, that Wrath of the Lich King will be coming to the Anniversary Edition servers, launching in early 2027. Will Anniversary Edition go farther than Wrath of the Lich King? Who knows! But we do know that if you want to get into The Burning Crusade again, you've got a week left to get yourself ready to explore Outland.

  • I'm not at all surprised to see that WoW's Anniversary Edition servers are continuing the trend of faster content releases. The biggest thing that sucks in WoW is when you and your guild are fully geared or 90% fully gear, have cleared all the content (especially older content which is much easier than modern), and you know there are still months until the next release. This was a large pain point when Blizzard brought Classic WoW back and only obvious that they'd make this change.

It's crazy though, we could see Wrath of the Lich King's pre-patch in less than a year, possibly even during 2026. It's a long time but damn does time go by so fast sometimes. You blink and another phase has dropped and you missed out.

I didn't get a chance to do a lot of raiding in TBC Classic, so I'm hoping I can get a chance to sneak in every week to play this time around. The mage is ready to go and I am so happy I won't have to worry about tanking, healing, or raid leading.
