Cataclysm Card Reveals - Day 7 [Finished]

Published 23 hours ago by (Updated 3 hours ago)

Today, we embrace nature and stick to the shadows. It's Druid and Rogue day!

Colossals are back! When you summon a Colossal minion, it'll split up into multiple different appendages that have their own effects, and created one GIANT threat on the board.

Herald and Shatter are also two new keywords in Cataclysm. Herald cards build up the strength of your Colossal, by summoning a Soldier with the same ability as the appendages. Shatter cards split into two cards when they're added to your hand, going to the left and right-most spots in your hand, and merge back into one card when they're adjacent in your hand.

We've got all of the information about the set right here, and don't forget that as the first set of the year, there will also be a new Core set. You can found out about the new Core set right here, and there's also the ongoing Rally the Dragonflights event that you can sign up for to give every player some new cards.

We've got a collection of cards below for today.

  • So far with reveals it looks like they are getting away from 8000 discover cards which is amazing. Now if they can just stop making mana cheat cards we'd be back on track for some prime hearthstone.

  • Sinestra - A really good colossal at a really good mana cost and pace. Basically what you want, but we all know this is basically a finisher and the play pattern is not a little toxic. Discover/generate a few damage spells from random sources and suddenly play this around turn 8-9 and spam your opponent to death while they watch. And if somehow this doesnt finish the job, you still have deathwing around the corner to end it.

Basically combining three things rogue players tend to like, play multiple stuff in one turn and piss everyone else off, thief-based random generation gameplay, and if situations permit, actually winning games.

Stolen Power - If this dont end up pissing all the alliance players, I dont know what will. Im already pegging shatter to basically be worthless because the conditions to shatter the two cards is practically impossible, and heres one card for a deathwing class that immediately grants a fully combined shatter card with no pre-conditions except the card's mana cost.

Will this be good though, fuck no. Unless theres a high chance of getting a face damaging card from this theres no earthly reason why rogue would want to play a three mana do nothing and get a card they probably cant use effectively.

Merithra of the Dream - Kinda funny that her human forms in shaman but whatevs. The card definitely has an insane effect, bordering on the levels of deciding games depending on how early you draw this to hand, but that's basically the problem with this card, you kinda need to draw this really early or the entire deck falls apart.

Id wager that the only deck playing this would likely be in the same realms of the current avianna druid, except a fuck ton more toxic but also perhaps much less successful.

Broodwatcher - All the problems as with merithra, except even after you triggered it, you dont win the game. And dont bother thinking you can play this on curve because the conditions to do it is so tight, you might as well forget about it.

Iso'rath - Shadowstep died for this. If that card was still valid in core, this card would be one of the most requested to be nerf cards ever made. But as it stands, its just decent. Just disrupt your opponent for two turns, and if ever theres a way to make more copies of this card it might actually fulfill its destiny of being the next most hated card in reddit alongside blackhorn.

    • Web of Deception is still in Standard for Iso'rath.
