Pokémon Pokopia Tops 2.2 Million Sales in 4 Days on Switch 2, Nintendo Confirms

Pokemon Pokopia has surpassed 2.2 million units sold.

Announced in a press release, The Pokemon Company and Nintendo have announced the overwhelming success to the launch of Pokopia, the slow-paced life simulation game featuring a playable Ditto character. Pokopia sees a world without humans, and a Ditto who has to rebuild it back into a utopia through adventuring, crafting items, and creating a cozy home.

Quote From Nintendo

The Pokémon Company (HQ: Tokyo, Minato-ku, Japan; President and CEO: Tsunekazu Ishihara) and Nintendo Co., Ltd. (HQ: Kyoto, Minami-ku, Japan; President and Representative Director: Shuntaro Furukawa, “Nintendo” hereafter) announced today that global sales of Pokémon Pokopia for the Nintendo Switch 2 system have surpassed 2.2 million units (including 1 million units sold in Japan) in the first four days since its worldwide launch on March 5, 2026

Thanks to the success of Pokopia, we've seen Nintendo's stock price rise over the past few days.

For context in how wild the sales numbers for Pokopia are, the New Pokemon Snap game on Switch that made its debut in April 2021 over the period of one year only sold 2.4 million copies (FY22 Results).

Pokemon's Mystery Dungeon DX for the Switch during their 2020 Financial Year saw sales of 1.26 million copies.

That is impressive to see a non-mainstream Pokemon game sell so well, and especially when you consider the install base for the Nintendo Switch 2 is quite small compared to the install base of the original Switch when the two other games came out, it's clear the genre and setting are huge.

We're also in the 30th anniversary year for Pokemon though, and Pokemon cards are impossible to buy, so the strong desire for Pokemon is certainly also driving sales numbers. We'll get updated numbers soon, the next Nintendo financial results, so we'll be able to see how Pokopia does compared to other Switch 2 titles.
