Next week we're due to see a new Hearthstone patch which is going to come with a whole trove of fun; A new fire-filled season of Battlegrounds, a new Firelands in-game event, technology for the upcoming dual-class arena event, and some new cards.
What? New cards already! Yes!
Hearthstone's New Card Additions in 2026
Instead of doing the typical mini-set between expansion launches, the Hearthstone team is instead going to be releasing Class Sets and Event Cards. Last week we got some more information on what that's going to look like:
Event cards will be added in .2 and .6 patches during the year.
Class sets will be added in .6 game updates during the year.
This means through the three expansions we will see this year, 6 patches should add in "event cards" and 3 patches will move forward with "class sets". Every single class can expect to see a class set during the year, though not all will be arriving at once.
The New Cards Arriving April 14
We're going to call these the Firelands Cataclysm cards because of the event starting next week with the same name. These cards have only been teased, not officially revealed, but here's what we know so far:
Card 1
A Minion which costs 4 mana.
Card 2
An epic 4/3 Minion which costs 3 mana.
There appears to be two tribes associated with it.
The text seems to indicate a Battlecry mechanic but it is quite fuzzy.
Possibly a warrior card due to the burgundy banner on the golden frame.
Card 3
An epic 7?/6 Minion which costs 6 mana.
There appears to be a single tribe associated with it.
Not really sure about keywords, but it does look to be neutral.
What we do know though is these new cards, if we assume there are only three of them being added, will have their golden copies at least earned in the Firelands event track. The normal copies are likely earned by owning a Cataclysm pack and visiting the open cards interface to unlock them like other cards in the event set.
We also see a new Malfurion hero skin with an awesome Firelands look. Card packs of course for the Cataclysm set as one would expect. We'll keep you up to date once Blizzard talks more about the new cards, but for now, this is all we have.
Are you excited about new cards arriving next week? What do you think these cards do?
