Splatoon-Inspired Joy-Con 2 Set Coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on July 23, 2026

It's about time! Nintendo announced during today's Nintendo Direct that we're getting a new color of the Joy-Con 2 for the Nintendo Switch 2.

These aren't included with any systems, yet anyway, but can instead be purchased as a standalone product starting on July 23, 2026. The new Joy-Con 2s come in Blue on the left half and a nice Light Yellow on the right half.

So, why new Joy-Con colors now? To celebrate Splatoon! Although they aren't specifically themed for Splatoon, the colors that were chosen are inspired by Deep Cut, a band from Splatoon 4 composed of Shiver, Frye, and Big Man. See the resemblance?

That gives us four total Joy-Con colors now for the Nintendo Switch 2, the classic Light Blue and Light Red that the console comes with (and is available as an secondary purchase if you want additional pairs), and now Blue and Light Yellow.

Joy-Con 2s are sold as a set for $79.99 and should be available anywhere you can buy Nintendo Switch hardware.

  • I'm honestly surprised that we're only now getting another colorway for the Switch 2 Joy-Cons. Side note, it feels so awkward to call them the Joy-Con 2s because it just doesn't pluralize right; Damn you Nintendo.

Colors are pretty nice though, not really surprised that they were going to be based on something; Fun fact the second Joy-Cons for the OG Switch that come out that weren't the default grey or blue/red combo were also Splatoon themed! (First was the Neon Yellow ones which were timed to be released with the Arms game, who else bought that and regret it haha)

Neon Pink / Neon Green were the color names.
