World of Warcraft is Coming to Dungeons & Dragons

Roll20 has made a big mistake! Ahead of next week's Gen Con, North America's largest and longest-running tabletop gaming convention, Roll20 accidentally published a blog post, which has since been removed, leaking the announcement.

According to Enworld, Dungeons & Dragons has been hyping up that there is going to be an announcement panel on Thursday at Gen Con with no other details. If we were going to place bets on it, that's gotta be the announcement.

This isn't the first time World of Warcraft has had a tabletop RPG: Warcraft The Roleplaying Game. It made its debut back in 2003 and then there was a second edition that arrived after the release of World of Warcraft which was then titled "World of Warcraft: The Roleplaying Game" and it was a system compatible with the third edition of Dungeons & Dragons. It saw many books release, the last one being Dark Factions which dropped in 2008. It's been almost 20 years since there has been an official tabletop game for Blizzard's largest franchise which, for fans of the universe, is super cool.

Dungeons & Dragons and tabletop games in general have been seeing a huge wave of popularity, so Blizzard and Hasbro getting together makes a ton of sense and it will be interesting to see how many new tabletop players come out to try Dungeons & Dragons due to the addition of World of Warcraft.
