PUBG MOBILE has just announced PUBG MOBILE LIGHT, a slimmed-down version of the battle royale title that promises quick access, smooth performance and a tiny footprint, with an official launch set for November 2026 and pre-registration opening today on the App Store and Google Play.
What do you actually get in PUBG MOBILE LIGHT?
At its heart, this is still classic PUBG. PUBG MOBILE LIGHT centers on battle royale on the iconic Erangel map, where up to 100 players drop in solo or in teams, loot for survival, and fight to be the last standing in an anxiety-inducing winner-takes-all showdown.
Rather than bundling it all in from the start, extra content is available to download on demand so you only install what you want to play:
Additional maps including Miramar and Sanhok
Game modes including Team Deathmatch and Metro Royale
In an era where memory and storage space prices are increasing which may lead to people buying phones with lower specs, this does give us an option to play solid mobile games with fewer system requirements.
Just how light is it?
This is where the "LIGHT" name earns its keep. The app has been optimised to use less storage, with a download size of less than 1GB on Android and 2GB on iOS. On top of that, faster downloads and reduced loading times mean you can get into the action almost immediately after downloading, with smoother, more responsive performance across a wider range of devices.
Despite the diet, the pitch is that nothing has been sacrificed with PUBG Mobile LIGHT being the same intensity, quality and immersive gameplay, just without the compromise on space.
Can you play with your main account?
Yes. PUBG MOBILE LIGHT shares the same system as PUBG MOBILE, so you can log in with your existing account, keep your friends list and game data, access your assets, and switch between the two versions whenever you like. It supports cross-play with PUBG MOBILE, so you can squad up with friends on the main client and jump into matches together.
When can you pre-register?
Pre-registration rolls out starting August 25 on the App Store and Google Play, with CBT (closed beta test) access available in selected countries ahead of the full November launch.
