Wild Rift Patch 7.3 Overhauls Ranked and Adds Rift Rumble, a New Three-Team Mode

Riot Games is closing out the year with League of Legends: Wild Rift Patch 7.3 arriving later this month and packing in a trio of new champions, a big ranked overhaul, and Rift Rumble - a brand new three-team battle mode. We've dug through everything Riot has shared, and there's a lot to get excited about.

Who are the new champions?

Three fresh faces are tunneling, bursting, and painting their way onto the Rift in Patch 7.3:

  • Hwei, the Visionary - A mid laner with a wide palette of spells, offering unparalleled tactical versatility. His abilities can output massive damage while also providing invaluable utility to his team.

  • Sylas, the Unshackled - A mage built for explosive bursts. His iconic ultimate lets him steal the ultimates of opposing champions, turning the tables on his enemies.

  • Rek'Sai, the Void Burrower - A powerful fighter who tunnels into the Rift, capable of initiating teamfights and chasing down her prey.

What is Rift Rumble?

The big addition this patch is Rift Rumble, a new game mode that pits three teams of three players each against one another on a brand new symmetrical map. Rather than pushing towers, the mode focuses on combat, and it features Augment Stones that can fundamentally enhance your champion's abilities.

ARAM fans aren't left out either - AAA ARAM is getting a music-themed season with dozens of new Augment cards to shake things up.

What's changing in gameplay?

Patch 7.3 brings a batch of changes aimed at improving the overall tempo of games:

  • Super minions and cannon minions get increased stats to help with sieging.

  • Destroying an enemy turret grants allied minions bonus Attack Damage to help push further.

  • Smite is being reworked, replacing its previous bonuses with persistent burning True Damage that scales with the player's stats.

  • Epic monsters receive increased resistances, making them more of a focal point for teamfights.

How is ranked being overhauled?

Following the ranked updates from last patch, Patch 7.3 aims to refine the ranked and progression experience. The scoring system is being revamped to evaluate players' performance and game impact based on their specific lane and champion role, and playing well rewards you with the chance to earn more Ranked Energy.

Legendary Ranked is also getting updates, including a streamlined seasonal entry threshold for former Grandmasters and a new trial format that lets top performers fast-track out of the Legendary Commander rank.

As for rewards, the ranked season features a skin for Milio, while this patch's Wild Pass features Pencil Sharpener Kog'Maw.

What skins are coming?

  • Pencil Sharpener Kog'Maw

  • Ranked Reward Milio Skin

  • Special Worlds Volibear Skin

  • Winterblessed Hwei

What about Wild Rounds: SMASH?

Looking ahead, Wild Rounds: SMASH 2026 will take place in Korea in November, bringing players together from around the world for competition, community, and a celebration of Wild Rift.

  • Just for clarity, Riot didn't release any images yet with this press release which is why its quite barren. I was surprised.
