Closing out today's Nintendo Direct is the announcement of a brand new 3D adventure game in the Kirby franchise: Kirby and the World Beyond! The entire roughly 3 minute-long gameplay and launch trailer had no talking, just visuals so allow us to talk about it instead!
We first got a glimpse of Cutter Kirby which showcases the ability to cut down enemies and ride the blade around to move fast.
Sword, sometimes mistakenly called Link Kirby due to the deliberate Zelda reference., also makes a return to the series and Kirby is looking something fierce.
Bomb Kirby is looking nice. Rolling around on a bomb to zoom around, using its power to jump to greater heights.
Parasol returns, of course it does, it's a classic! Floating and parting water. What else will it be used for?
The gameplay trailer teased a fight with King Dedede which, spoiler alert, shows us the world beyond. As King Dedede gets thrown into the air, he crashes out of the world. Kirby then gains a new sword power and ultimately rips open an exit from the current world into a new one. Huge potential here for a lot of new copy abilities and new places to explore with an entire new world out there. We can't wait to see what they have in store!
Kirby and the World Beyond is releasing in Spring 2027 and next year is also 35 Years of Kirby. What do you think?
