Mech mage is coming back? Meh it might just be something that gets no support, just like Remote-Controlled Golem.
Either way it's a 3 mana mech with good stats, and it shuffles some value into your deck. Sunken Sweeper seems interesting. I'm not sure if 3 mechs is good enough right now, but it depends on the newly added mechs in this set and the core set. (Hoping a certain mech that's best described as "Unity, Precision.. perfection" is in the core set) This seems like an interesting spin on Omega Assembly as well. Seems good in a slower/control style mage deck. And one more kind of archetype.
What is the #1 archetype that likes generating cards? Well it's an archetype that only has 1 copy of every card in their deck. I think this might fit really well in a highlander mage deck, which might be returning. The devs have REALLY teased a possibility Reno Jackson might be in the core set (On twitter), which might be possible considering Finley is also returning this expansion.
What a random card to give Mage of all classes. Even with Mech synergy this is just a pure value card and I don't believe value Mage is going to be very good.
At least it confirms that there would be mechs in the next expansion.
Dredge can easily tutor the Sunken Sweeper out, but the question remains: do you even want the sunken sweeper in your hand the next turn?
Because if Im being honest, the answer would be no. Mage has plenty of value with spells like Rune of the Archmage, so its never running out of stuff to do. And this card only gives you 3 mechs. Unless one of those is a Zilliax (not completely impossible) then its fair to call it a sequence of many contrivances for a trio of trash.
Even as an aggro card, we're talking reloading your hand with unpredictable stuff, when you'd much rather just have fireball (assuming its in core) in the midgame anyway.
But hey, maybe mage gets a full set of OP mechs and suddenly we're staring at control mage with this as its crown jewel. But more likely its yet more spell mage and this card gets a crown of turds on its head.
Maybe Mech Mage will make a comeback :)
Decent card on it`s own - good stats and creates value!
Will be interesting to see how many good mechs return to standard with the core set. This is one of those cards that require the Dredge mechanic or it's way too slow for the reward. Definitely seems like the "sunken" and Dredge mechanics are more value/control orientated which is always welcomed.
This could be good, if you are able to tutor things out with dredge and Mage. Getting frozen mech mage back into the mix would be wicked
Guess we'll have to see what the full set looks like before judging this one too harshly - but I see what you mean and agree on the underwhelming part, taking the card on its own
Mage with Mechs, huh? Looks at least decent.
It's fine. If you're really serious about playing a Mech Mage then you should probably consider running this minion, but there aren't a lot of really good Mechs in Standard as of right now, which means that the random Mechs you get might just be a handful of weak bodies.
With the Mage Dredge minion and Seafloor Gateway, this is can be a really good refuel for Mech Mage.
Great stats, and the Sunken Sweeper has an amazing effect. Will certainly see play in Mech Mage!
