Deck Idea & Inspiration

Utilizing Viper's Quest Druid (see end of guide)--which enables massive, high-skill tempo swings via Floop's Glorious Gloop--I decided to take the deck a step further by incorporating Kael'thas Sunstrider to create additional huge and high-skill tempo plays.

Effectively, this deck functions very similarly to Viper's version (abuse Ossirian Tear and Dream Portals until your opponent runs out of resources), but it enables even more, massive tempo swings and combos when stringing spells together with Kael'thas Sunstrider.

Mulligan

Against Aggro

To keep up with aggro, we need to make sure we finish Untapped Potential on turn 4. If you go first, hard-mulligan for Innervate. Otherwise, we need our early game removal via Wrath and BEEEES!!! and sustain via Steel Beetle. If your opponent builds wide boards, Starfall and Oasis Surger are good to keep as well.

Against Control

To overwhelm control, we need to ramp our mana and flood the board as soon as possible. The most important card to focus on is Nourish--which helps us ramp mana and cycle through our deck faster. Worthy Expedition and Rising Winds are also helpful for generating more tools and cycling through our deck early.

Synergies

Aside from the usual Quest Druid synergies via Untapped Potential, this deck utilizes two key cards to provide flexible, high-skill plays that can completely flip the tempo of the game in your favor.

Floop's Glorious Gloop

Viper is a pro for a reason--he saw the potential of Floop's Glorious Gloop in this deck, and, man, is it awesome when you surprise your opponent with a 15+ mana play that clears their board while flooding yours. The main way to use Floop's Glorious Gloop is to combo it with BEEEES!!! into a key enemy minion, then follow up with a Starfall to clean up the rest of the board, or perhaps a Hidden Oasis to heal up and plant a taunt. Oasis Surger or any other minions just sitting on your board also wonderfully combo with Floop's Glorious Gloop, so it ends up being really flexible throughout the game.

This card has a very high-skill cap in this deck--rewarding players with patient, calculated play who know how and when to swing the tempo of the board.

Kael'thas Sunstrider

With Ashes of Outland right around the corner, we were gifted Kael'thas Sunstrider to hype up the expansion. When I saw this card, I was disappointed, expecting it to be another flop of a card for cyclone mage. Fortunately, many players better than I found a use for this card with Druid--in particular, players theory-crafted this wild-only combo:

(Turn 4) Innervate --> Innervate --> Kael'thas Sunstrider --> Ultimate Infestation

Inspired, I made a few changes to Viper's deck so that Kael'thas Sunstrider will easily be able to pull off huge, mana-cheating plays in the mid- and late-game.

Examples:

(Turn 6) Innervate --> Worthy Expedition --> Kael'thas Sunstrider --> Nourish/Hidden Oasis --> Anubisath Defender

(Turn 7) Innervate --> Rising Winds --> Kael'thas Sunstrider --> Nourish/Starfall/Hidden Oasis --> Anubisath Defender

(Turn 10) Floop's Glorious Gloop --> BEEEES!!! --> Kael'thas Sunstrider --> Nourish --> Starfall/Oasis Surger/Anubisath Defender/etc.

There are tons of situations where Kael'thas Sunstrider can provide massive tempo swings for this deck, and it fits with Viper's version of the deck beautifully.

Tips

At the end of the day, this deck is just another Quest Druid deck which means you are still aiming for the same win conditions: filling your deck with tons of Dream Portals from Ysera, Unleashed, generating huge, wide boards with the help of Cenarius, and duplicating the these overwhelming effects via Flobbidinous Floop himself. There's no need to get greedy with this deck since it already does that for you via Ossirian Tear.

There are probably plenty of guides on how to best play Quest Druid, so I encourage you to check out those if you want to understand traditional Quest Druid better. The main goal of this version of the deck is to allow for players to use creative, high-skill plays to outplay their opponent in ways the traditional Quest Druid does not utilize.

Good luck, and have fun!
