any reason why this is neither a demon nor a beast?
could be cool for Quest Hunter, but that deck is just...not that good right now. Although, admittedly, the payoff could be huge.
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
A bit tricky to justify running a 5 drop with nothing but stats in any deck right now, especially when it has to sit in your hand for a while to be worth playing.
This post is discussing the wild format.
Not good enough to run over anything else, even in dedicated decklists. The amount of investment required to get this large enough to be good is just too high and can't compare to the other powerhouse moves DH can churn out. Happy to see they can get some bad cards printed at least.
It becomes unfair around 8/8 so 7 minions have to die while this is in your hand.. will see how those token decks do.. have sick synergy with Unleash the Hounds
It's not a bad card, but it is slow, and if you draw it after a lot of you cards that would generate a bunch of minions then you still need to wait to generate more.
Basicly a reprint of Bolvar Fordragon, BUT WORSE. and people called Bolvar Fordragon to quote: "One of the worst legendary cards ever printed". Also Bolvar Fordragon doesn't see play in ODD Paladin, despite them spamming tokens every turn. so i don't see why zoolock and quest hunter would want it. Also if you want Blood Herald to have the exact amount of hp Bolvar Fordragon you will need to sacrifice 7 minions... Bolvar Fordragon at that point still has +1 atk over Blood Herald. And as someone who actually, without memeing used Bolvar Fordragon. I can say: You generally want to play a card like this when it has around.. 5/6 atk? something like that. In that case you would play Blood Herald as a 5 mana 5/5 or 6/6... that's not that good. You want to play Blood Herald instead as a huuuuge minion. Like 8/8 or 9/9 at least i'm guessing. Otherwise it's just a REALLY BAD investment of your mana.
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
Brandon hit the nail right on the head, this is just a straight up worse version of Bolvar Fordragon. It is only bigger than him after 7 minions have died, and even then he is only 1 health bigger. I just don't think this card will ever see play in any deck.
Carrion, my wayward grub.
Has the same problem Bolvar did, in that you invest into a singular big minion that’ll probably just get killed with a spell.
Even with both classes being a lot more proactive in fighting for the board (lots of rush minions/tokens), it’s still probably not worth it honestly
Who needs consistency when you could have fun?
Great to have in early game, terrible to draw in late time, lol.
Official Lorekeeper and Spinner of Tavern Tales
This reminds me a lot of the bat legendary loa of the warlock from Rastakhan. I don't think you will be able to buff this consistently enough. And even then - single target removals are not that exotic. Especially with Zephrys still around.

Yeah, they really want DH to start trading, don't they? This won't help.
"Be excellent to each other." -Bill and Ted
Yeah. This is really bad.
Atrocious top-deck, and it takes a lot of time and trading before it becomes decent. It's also a nerf to Jandice.
Will not work, neither hunters nor demon hunters draw enough cards to have big hands that can consistently have it early/mid game. You will most likely be top decking it mid-game sometime, and it just won't have enough impact coming out. Things which buff themselves when X happens in your hand have never been good in hearthstone, and have sometimes even been some of the worst cards of their sets. I view this card with the same gaze I give to Blubber Baron.
First of all, the art clearly shows that its either demon or beast. Unless its actually a were-demon, so we're expected to treat this as human. What balancing reasons there must be for this to be neither will be known only to team5.
What more can be said except this card is thoroughly shit. If it gains the stats while being in the deck then there may yet be hope for this thing, but instead it needs to first be drawn, then have minions dead for it to be good, and then it cost 5 mana. There's not even a guarantee that the card wont just die to a spell, assuming you can even get this to a respectable 6/6 by turn 5 anyway.
One thing going for this is that its a terrible card to be targetted by Headmaster Kel'Thuzad so there's that. Aside from this, its also a terrible 5 drop for Jandice Barov.
There is some swarm synergy going on in both class, but i still think that this is too slow.
Hir'eek's nephew is also an expert in Evolve pollution.
Meh ... not sure this will see any play. Not even a Demon ... overall i think this is not good.
Challenge me ... when you're ready to duel a god!
A giant bat that gains stats when a friendly minion dies - feels like this should have been a warlock card in Rastakhan's Rumble when they were pushing their hand buff mechanics.
A card like this is going to find home in a control shell that will utilize Coordinated Strike and Command the Illidari as ways to remove your opponents minions and kill your own tokens to make this guy bigger.
however, because of it's cost you'll need to sacrifice say 5 minions while this is in your hand for it to be cost effective - anything below 5/5 of stats isn't mana efficient, you want the most stats for the least amount of mana.
Granted you can always try to discount this card with Skull of Gul'Dan, since control decks rely on card draw to get their answers.
A deck that runs this minion will also be running Fel Guardians and Netherandamus, both who also get stronger as friendly minions die.
I forgot Hunters could use this card too, with Hunters their tempo playstyle might make this minion too slow for them, but they do have unleash the hounds and the new 1 drop Wolfpertinger which creates a token dulpicate of itself, and let's not forget snake trap as well, but I feel like Demon Hunter might be more efficient with this minion than Hunter
This actually bugs me too - it is most def a beast ...
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
Mental note : do not evolve a 4 mana minion
Filler card. 5 mare are too much and no tag at all. It's gona become easy dust XD
Such a terrible top deck. Also, it takes about 7 friendly minion deaths to make this interesting, and that isn't usually happening by turn 5 when you'd like these stats the most. Blood Herald is just too slow and inconsistent for either class to run.
For glory, honor, and gold!
Pretty bad overall, don't see this seeing play even in arena.
Rating cards on coolness factor rather than predicting power because I like screwing up rating averages (and because I suck at predicting real power levels, but we'll ignore that LUL)
Wins per class (2/6/22): DH-197; Druid-996; Hunter-91«60; Mage-1056; Paladin-1126; Priest-746; Rogue-961; Shaman-1095; Warlock-871; Warrior-906
Eh, I'll pass on this one.
Thanks to denial, I'm immortal.
I think you need this in your opening hand, otherwise it's not going to work out.
Will meme the hell out of it
Lemushki - The one and only since the 2006 rebranding.
Worst card in the deck
A card that is not only the worst in the set, but somehow worst than old Bolvar.
It needs to be in hand, and we already know that doesn't really work.
Even with a "perfect opening" of multiple minions getting killed and this played on curve, it's still very underwhelming. I don't know why it was printed.
Garbage.
Costs too much for the starting stacks, maybe with the "summon x 1/1 rush minions" cards it can be good but we already saw many effects like this before and they weren't really played
All hail the banshee queen.
Terrible card. It gets stuck in your hand until at least 5 friendly minions die and is an absolutely abhorrent topdeck. Won't see play.
Doesn't seem very good; "in your hand" holds back cards from being playable most of the time.
Maybe some kind of swarm decks can make this work, but 5 mana is a steep cost to pay.
Usually having to spend resources to gain equivalent or worse resources somewhere else doesn't work out well in Hearthstone (see Feast of Souls, Nethrandamus, etc.).
Maybe someone will make a meme deck to make it works
Top deck it and cry. Even on curve is goddamn awful. Pass.
Powerful if you can keep it in your hand for ages to get a lot of buffs from tokens and dead minions. But then you are holding onto a card for ages.
Not worth wasting a card slot over.
This is just straight bad
-=alfi=-
Too slow.

By The Holy Light!
I'm not confident this will see play in the current set.
1 star trash bat. It's like if Hi'reek was easier to buff but didn't fill your board!
Quick! Someone give me something clever to write here.
Very slow, probably not worth the control tokens.
Guaranteed to summon this off Apexis Blast. I am that cursed.
TREMBLE before.... the most legendary dragon that ever existed!
I'm gonna call it random 5-drop pool nerfing garbage... but I'm always secretly worried that an effect like this will finally be good. Demon Hunter and Hunter both have ways to generate many tokens to feed this, after all.
But no. It's garbage. Surely.
Welcome to the site!
You can compare this to several other failed cards: Bolvar Fordragon, Blubber Baron, Wicked Skeleton and Hir'eek, the Bat. Hunter could theoretically use this with quest but that deck struggles too much with draw to risk running this. And Token Demon Hunter won't be a thing because DH doesn't have any ways to turn tokens into effective threats and the support and pay off cards are too weak (this and Fel Guardians) or too slow (Nethrandamus). However, that doesn't mean it shouldn't be tested. I'll give it a shot (and probably be disappointed).
"True mastery takes dedication."
Since both classes have a way to generate Charge/Rush tokens that can make this grow, it can be quite strong. Sadly, it's near useless when drawn later on.
