Taric a bit to hard to level?

Submitted 4 years, 2 months ago by

Gem cards my boy, Gems.

Each Gem spell should proc Taric twice.
So all its needed to level him up is to attack once and then play 3 gem cards (1 mana each = 3 mana).

Also, notice Taric is only unkillable after he declares an attack. He still is vulnerable in the entire oponnent's turn or if the player decide to play a card before the attack phase.

Even then that's 7 mana in gems. That's a lot of mana. I mean I guess if you bank 7 gems then get him on board and drop them all in one turn to instantly level him. That would be almost like a dropping two U.S. at burst speed for 7 mana in total that also buffs several unites and gives one other unite tough for that attack phase then the tough and the remaining buffs besides the US will last forever.

But still that is kinda asking for a lot to go right to make that happen. Plus you need 7 slots to hold those gems. You can only have a hand of 10 cards. So that's a tight fit.

My dude, you only need a total of 4 cards in hand:

    1x Taric
3x Gem cards (generated by followers)
3x Stored mana (to play all 3 gem cards above in the same Turn Taric is played)

Each time Taric is buffed with a Gem, he also buffs his support with another free one. Double cast with a single usage.
Its possible to level up Taric as soon as T4 if the player has the attack token, 3 gems and 3 spell mana stored.

Taric Level Up: +1(attacking with an allied support) +3 Gem(from hand) +3 Gem(given for free by Taric's ability) = 7

The fact that it says I've seen makes it seem a bit to hard to level. The thing is I don't know if that's a bad thing. Since when he is leveled up he basically gives himself and another unite Unyielding Spirit or that turn. As we all know Unyielding Spirit is a a really really frustrating card. So in order for him to do that on level up they had to make it so he was really hard to level.

Agree--I played 2 hours last night and I didn't see a single Taric level up.  ;-)

In all seriousness: wait until he actually comes out before drawing any conclusions.  It could be that he's intended to play more like a Braum or Thresh: difficult to level up, but once they do provide a huge payoff.  Or maybe he will be easier to level than he seems: if you have 2 other units including 1 support and 1 buff spell, that's 4 (assuming Taric's copy counts; I haven't seen confirmation).  Or maybe it will be like Yasuo and Kalista where they intentionally set it a little high because they didn't want it to be overly toxic Day 1, and if it doesn't have high winrate they patch him to require fewer activations.

I think Tarif should be pretty easy to level up, given that his support ability counts as 2 extra triggers towards his level up (since it’s a Support ability that targets an ally). Also, if they print a Targon card that targets multiple times (something like “Grant 3 allies +1|+0”) he could be even easier to level up.

Have you ever played against that new fizz elusive deck? Main decks like 9 burst speed buffs, now add gems and support on top of that and it should be pretty easy.

Ah yes, a new region which seems to focus a lot on the Support mechanic, of which we've only seen a few cards so far, and already Taric is too hard to level.

    Classic.

Tahm Kench also seems a little weak. And Lulu will definitely get nerfed. Thoughts, guys?

Read the card again. Taric does not level up when you buff allies. He levels up when you target allies. When Taric shares a buff with his supported ally, that does not count as you targeting it. PLUS the fact that Taric only copies the last spell you cast on him. Your scenario would give 4 points to Taric, not 7 (Target 3 + Support 1), and it would only cast one Gem on the supported unit.

Even so, I don't think it will be that hard to level him. It's worth noting that you can target your own units with things like Vile Feast and Glimpse Beyond, and those would count toward Taric.
