How to buy the pre-order (or anything) cheaper within Blizzard Shop without any problems/illegal actions?

Submitted 5 years, 11 months ago by

Although I'm not going to pre-order new expansion because both options are too expensive for me, I would like show you how to buy Uldum pre-order cheaper with currency trick. It's widely known that Blizzard Shop is far more expensive than Google Store or Amazon Store because these stores have discount. If you don't want to bother with emulators for Amazon or Google, you can use internet country domains list as your advantage which I found by accident.

As an example, I reside in EU. Before this trick, if I had to buy something special/exclusive on Blizzard Shop:

  • I would need to buy at https://eu.shop.battle.net/en-gb/family/hearthstone where the currency is EUR and it was the most expensive option for me.
  • Then, I entered at https://us.shop.battle.net/en-gb/family/hearthstone to buy Master's Bundle a month ago, where the currency was USD. Thus, I bought the bundle with a fair discount thanks to currency change and I could be able to redirect my purchase to EU region. Since there was no currency conversion problem within my bank, there were no issues regarding the transaction.

With these in mind, what I really found by accident is: https://kr.shop.battle.net/en-gb/family/hearthstone (enter via VPN if needed. Opera would be a good browser to access with). It's South Korean link of Blizzard Shop, where the currency is KRW. When I take a look at Uldum-Mega Bundle, which was originally 80 USD/EUR, it was 80000 KRW (equivalent of 60 EUR or 68.42 USD). If you buy this bundle with this link -assuming there is no problem from your bank regarding currency conversion and/or region selection from Blizzard Shop while purchasing for your account-, you will get a fair discount.

In short, have a look at internet country domain lists and currencies Blizzard Shop is supporting. Then, if your bank can convert currencies without any hassle and no problem from region selection, change "eu" to "kr" or any country Blizzard Shop supports its currency. Keep in mind that all links of Blizzard Shop can't be entered via this trick (Example: https://shop.battlenet.com.cn/zh-cn). You need to try with trial-by-error: Either enter TLD at the start of the link or at the end of the link, with country codes in mind.

If I recall, Argentina/Brazil/Mexico links of Blizzard Shop have good discounts thanks to their currencies/policies or whatever. If anyone can share here, I think everyone can purchase bundles far more cheaper than South Korean link of Blizzard shop. I'm sorry that my English isn't that good but I think I did my best for a good tutorial.

  • You can change your Google-Play-Store Country to Mexico as well and just buy via Android-Hearthstone-App. It automatically changes currency. No need for vpn

    Big-80-Pack 1290 MXN = 60.18 EUR

    50-Pack 819 MXN = 38.21 EUR

    Payment via creditcard

I am doing this since several expansions

+every other app is cheaper too =)

I remember of reading an article that follows the way as you suggested but I couldn't succeed of doing it. Perhaps, if you remember, you can share your trick? I would be glad to see how.

  • Well it was some time ago but i just followed instructions to change Play-Store-Country-Settings as explained here: https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/change-country-region-google-play-store/

I added Mexico and deleted old one (Germany). After restarting and probably reinstalling Hearthstone (cant remember) you can start hearthstone as regular and after clicking on buy the price appears in MXN.

I tried with my paypal account but that doesnt work. Creditcard (german) works perfect

  • When I go to change the country settings it tells me I can only do it once per year.

    0
  • Yeah thats true. Just stay "in Mexico". I never switched back because the language setting is a different option. No need to change it back afterwards

  • I believe there must be a way to change country settings instantly. Otherwise, I think Argentina/Brazil/Mexico links of Blizzard Shop will be a good bet which is less risky for micro-transactions. If only there were a way to reach them... I couldn't find with all combinations I could think of :|

What do you mean with "instantly"?

Regarding Blizzard Shops: i think it is not possible to buy at the mexico store if that account is not based in mexico. The mexico shop is: https://us.shop.battle.net/en-mx

If you click that link you will probably be redirected to regular us-shop (USD). I have a mexico based (2nd-) account too and it only works to access that en-mx link if you are logged in to a MXN-Account.

/Edit: regular MXN-Battle-net.shop is even cheaper (no google / android fee): Big Bundle: 1100 MXN = 51,34 EUR

Logging in both the Korean and the Mexican shop worked fine for me (German Account). I tried it out until I was asked to select which server I want to buy the package for and then quit, because I still have to check out if my bank is fine with paying Korean money. So no, no redirection to your usual shop :)

Aside from that, the Korean shop seems to be cheaper than the Mexican. The smaller bundle is 38 Euro in Korea, 44 Euro in exico.

I notice I am confused. Something I believe isn't true. How do I know what I think I know?

  • I guess the "Knackpunkt" ;) will be completing the payment. I tried several methods and all failed in the process of payment. Try it out and tell us if it worked

No, thats not true. Small Bundle is 32.16 EUR (689 MXN) via battle.net and 38.21 EUR  (819 MXN) via Play-Store so MXN is cheaper

  • Ah, sorry. You’re right, MXN actually did redirect me to US.

I will have a look into the paying process in the Korean shop and report back, though.

  • Thanks for this. Used the US store to purchase for EU (I'm from the UK) I also used Paypal and the total for both bundles came to £100 which saved me £15.

When using the KR store as mentioned I could only pay with Blizzard Balance, although it did appear that I could have topped up to make the purchase but didn't fancy risking it.

I wasn't able to select credit card as a payment option, only Blizzard balance

  • That's odd. I reside in EU, yet I can complete my purchase via credit card if USD is selected. By that logic, KRW should be available for both currency and card. Guess this method doesn't work well after all.

  • I am from Argentina (Currently living in spain with a no job visa) and I cant access the argentinian shop, it must be secured or sth so they dont loose that much money.

Right now I am buying from Argentina because a friend has my card details but cant do it from here.

  • I'm from Argentina too, and let me tell you, everything is WAY MORE CHEAPER than in other regions. Let me tell you some prices:

    • Welcome Bundle: 55.00 ARS (1.32 USD or 1.17 EUR)
    • SoU 50-packs: 569 ARS (13.66 USD or 12.11 EUR)
    • SoU Mega Bundle: 890 ARS (21.37 USD or 18.95 EUR)
    • Heroes: 109 ARS (2.62 USD or 2.32 EUR)
    • 2 card packs: 35 ARS (0.84 USD or 0.75 EUR)

Keep in mind that some prices might get a 21% VAT due to some government laws.

    *-*

  • I know you can buy pack with Amazon coins but is it really possible to buy a bundle with the coins?

    0
  • I do it virtually every expansion. Just saved 18% which is pretty nice (not a sponsor btw lol). In my experience the only things that you cant buy are blizzard store exclusives - wild packs, wild adventures etc. Edit - responding to Lycaon, obviously I didn't click reply like I thought I did.

  • I wrote a guide on how to buy from Mexico on HP.  I haven't used it this expansion, but has worked for me and most users for previous ones.  Hope it helps

    1. Go to google wallet settings https://pay.google.com/payments/u/0/home#settings
    2. Scroll down to Country/Region and attempt to edit it. You'll get a tooltip to make a new profile instead. Click this
    3. Use an address generator to fill out your address in Mexico. Use your real info for everything else, such as name. http://www.datafakegenerator.com/generador.php
    4. Select your old google wallet with your home country. Scroll to the bottom of the settings menu to delete it
    5. Add your card to the Mexico wallet. Make sure to put your real billing address, not a fake one
    6. Open HS on your android or android emulator, such as Nox
    7. Your system may still display the wrong/old price but tap to buy a bundle anyway. Don't worry, you won't actually buy anything until after a few more confirmation screens
    8. HS will connect to google play for payment. It should display the cost for Mexico, but sometimes converted to a different currency. From here, make your purchase normally
      1. If you get the error "your payment cannot be completed", contact Google and your bank to let them know your accounts haven't been commandeered by a Russian hacker
        1. If Google tells you there is a "currency missmatch" and your bank tells you there are no charges, wait to contact Google again later and hope for a more lax representative.  There have been several instances where people have run into this situation and resolved it by simply hitting different Google reps
    9. Profit. Also enjoy cheaper prices on everything else in the play store too!

    The "A"s of FAQ

    • No VPN or spoofing required at any time. Using these may actually cause problems
    • Does not work with PayPal or iOS
    • Does work with emulators. In fact, if the above guide doesn't work, I recommend doing the steps again from 6 onwards with Nox
    • Does not work with Argentina because they are region-locked. Mexico and Russia have been confirmed to work, the others are untested. Feel free to try the rest of them
    • Tested on all servers except China
    • If you don't have a google wallet account, just skip the delete your profile part
    • If you already have a google account, making a new one (rather than a new google wallet) has been reported to interfere with the payment process
    • You can delete your Mexican google wallet after this is done and make yourself your old account back. Personally, I'm keeping it Mexican for the better play store deals though

  • Indeed... it was your guide on hearthpwn. Well done ;)

  • Thanks for guides guys! I have one question though. Are there any chances of getting banned for doing this? It would be my first time and I just want my account to be safe :)

If you change your address to Mexico, it's not likely that you'll be banned. However, it's EXTREMELY likely that you'll be deported to Mexico by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, so be aware.

I mean, it's a children's card game.  They'd probably just put you in a cage with the other children instead.  As a gamer, you're probably living without soap/toothpaste anyway lol

On a more serious note, I've been helping people using this method since boomsday and no one has gotten banned yet.  It's perfectly safe :)

I am just wondering, is there any reason why you use Mexico as the new country?

  • Could anyone tell me, how much it costs now on mexican store?

That just happened to me too. Guess I'll have to keep buying with my Brazilian Google Wallet Account. It's a good deal too
