ok card.. sees play depending on how relevant pirate cards are.. it's nothing too spectacular.
The pirate tag helps this card a lot, and I think the ability to deal 1-2 damage to a minion lets this contest the board early fairly well in odd rogue or similar decks.
The fact that it only hits minions means that the combo potential only extends to removing a large minion, unless you donate a Soulbound Ashtongue with Silas, but that + this would cost 9, when you could just use Spectral Pillager for 6 mana.
This post is discussing the wild format.
Ok card to get board adventage at early game.
Dealing 1-2 damage at t3 can remove a lot of minions.
By The Holy Light!
This being 1 mana makes the card playable, but playing multiple cards in one turn is done to get a big Edwin VanCleef. This might see play in a tempo rogue or current archetypes, but it's not flashy
TREMBLE before.... the most legendary dragon that ever existed!
Ok Soulbound Ashtongue, get ready for those spicy MEMES.
Could be good I guess, but it needs so much work just for a mediocre effect a Rush lackey will no doubt accomplish just as well.
This ain't no place for a hero
Something for miracle rogue or galakrond rogue i guess... At least it's a cheap minion. Generally we have seen cards like these on more expansive minions, which is why those cards were really bad. i might give this the benefit of the doubt, as it's low cost might salvage it. maybe it might see play in some kinda Silas Darkmoon OTK deck. Seems doable in wild i guess, after the Emperor Thaurissan tick, alongside lots of cheap spells like Backstab and one of two Mo'arg Artificers. There is a lot of potential for this card, as long as it gets support it might be fine.
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
Its just a laughable card in standard. Taking up space. The only way it could ever redeem itself is the reveal of some massive support (I'm talking like Sorcerer's Apprentice level of card cycling) in which case it would easily win the 'massively underrated Lady Liadrin reveal' prize of this expansion. Even then, the effect only deals damage to minions.
The bar where I can call this decent is 3 damage, and even then I'm not all that convinced a deck slot can be purposefully given just for that.
This card seems kind of silly to me. Rogue has much better ways to kill or remove minions. I guess we'll use it for Ashtongue OTKs if anything.
"Be excellent to each other." -Bill and Ted
it's not a bad single target removal - but how effective will this card be when year of the dragon rotates in standard? Rogue is reliant on Galakrond and Magic wand to discount cards for them to make big Edwin's and Questing adventurers.
Not certain if this guy will see play any time soon
This is a very silly card, which I suppose was kinda the point. Even if it can't hit face, it's a much better Spectral Pillager because you can actually play other cards in your turn! It's not difficult for this to do a lot of damage in many circumstances, but these types of cards usually fail because using them for Edwin VanCleef is just generally better, although this one is probably the closest one to being playable that there has been so far.
I mean I can see this being just an ok inclusion with decks that utilize Questing Adventurer already, and then on top of that meme comboes will be fun too...

What Spectral Pillager should have been.
I think this card is pretty strong. Really, you only need to have played 2 cards prior to this for it to be good. And I don't imagine it will be hard for you to get 4-6 damage with things like Secret Passage, Bloodsail Flybooter, and/or lackeys.
Carrion, my wayward grub.
A much more applicable Spectral Pillager, might help miracle decks keep up board control or deal with larger threats. Not too many pirate synergies in Rogue atm, but maybe we'll see something to support all the small pirates they have.
Spectral Pillager and Prize Plunderer are very different cards, despite looking very similar. Spectral Pillager is designed to be a finisher, something to punch your opponent for a lot of damage, while Prize Plunderer, in my opinion looks much more like a Vilespine Slayer, a card that puts tempo on the board while killing something, with the difference that Prize Plunderer can also act as reach for the rest of the board to deal with something for lower stats and more versatility. The design seems simplistic and also recycled from something that came before, but the applications are fairly different.
Rating cards on coolness factor rather than predicting power because I like screwing up rating averages (and because I suck at predicting real power levels, but we'll ignore that LUL)

I'm already seeing people try to combo this into Silas and Soulbound Ashtongue
but how much damage can you even do to it? already playing 10 cards is a lot and that's not even half the way

The answer.... LOTS. I made a number of edits to this build as the expansions came out, but realistically, you can do a lot.
Might be useful with lackey's and it is also a pirate.
"Something's changed in Lotso that day"
I think this will definitely see play.
A 1 mana card with damage that can scale is very versatile.
Cool combo, great one drop, with a tribe tag for an A+
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
This is probably a one of in some rogue decks but not too many. It isn’t as crazy as VanCleef but can help swing the early turns.
It's one of those cards where your mind starts to think about all the crazy combos even though the most efficient use of it will probably be 1-2 damage removal in early game. But it's naturally fun to imagine the quirky things first.
good meme
TOTAL CORRUPTION
TOTAL POWAAAAAAA
Wow, this is garbage! But also I guess it could work since its only 1 mana you could theoretically hit a minion for 9 damage if you really wanted to do that for some reason so fine removal I guess
Self proclaimed good at battlegrounds
This requires a lot of cards to be played to be meaningful removal, but Prize Plunderer just pales in comparison to cards like Coerce that require less mana and fewer cards.
For glory, honor, and gold!
Very powerful, but won't see play. Rogues enjoy spamming cheap shit, but they also enjoy going face not trading.
Living like that.
I don't think that this will be run, because it cant hit face.

Only sometimes useful when discovered. Without the Pirate tribe keyword, it is not even worth a single star.
Nothing more than pack filler. Worse Spectral Pillager.
Should go face :(
Pirate syngergy.
play, shadow step, play, shadowstep....
All hail the banshee queen.
Bad? Bad. I'm not even sure you run this in dedicated Pirate lists. Like, sure, sometimes you can kill a minion thanks to all the cards you've played that turn. Other times you maybe do a couple damage with it. Why use up space in your deck like that, especially on such a miserable topdeck?
Welcome to the site!
Honestly I think it's fine even if you only get 2-3 damage, helpful for Tempo Rogues, but might just get swapped out for pure removal options.
Hey, you heard about that Mario guy?
I don't see this going into many current Rogue decks. They have other tools that they want to use multiple combos on. I just don't see this one doing much right now.
Unfortunately, common sense isn't as common as it should be.
Synergizes with Pen Flinger, I guess? No, this card is bad.
I don't want to cure cancer; I want to turn people into dinosaurs.
Not amazing, but decent enough. Not sure where it fits in the meta
This card is actually very good in the right deck that can play and draw/generate a lot of cheap cards. Other than backstab, I don't think there are better removal options for rogue.
the card is great. surprise success of the expansion. never feels bad to have him in hand. can get a few damage to clear something and get a small body. or you can use him to start a combo chain if you have nothing else.
