Anyone here playing Gwent?
Hello everyone,
I just recently started playing Gwent, frustration over the Hearthstone BP incentivized me to give it a shot. I also love Witcher 3 and started playing it again, so I'm having a really good time gaming after a while.
I wanted to check, what's the situation here, is anybody playing it? Saw an old thread about it, it seemed to me that people here weren't optimistic about the game back then.
If anybody is interested, it would really make me happy to make some in-game friends :)
By the way, I would recommend the game to anyone who's into Witcher and loves card games. The cards have beautiful art and flavor, and playstyle feels more strategic compared to HS. The reward system feels good for now, but I'm still a noob and can't be objective here yet.

I'm a player of it. I took it up after I got sick of the overly snowbally game play of LoR. I enjoy it a lot but the only complaint I have about it is that it is so strictly mathematical. What I mean by that is that the strictly number based victory goals make it hard to play anything off meta or bother with tech cards since they will lose you the game the vast majority of the time. A good deck often extremely efficient and does things with ruthless efficiency, I've been having a lot of trouble facing monster decks lately. That said I don't want to sound like I dislike the game, I think it has great art and is actually more balanced than most games out there, and its unique enough to offer something different from other collectable card games. I think the game would be more enjoyable if I had friends to play it with that allowed playing it without feeling like I had to use nothing but the most powerful decks in the meta. That said the same can be claimed about HS and LoR as well since any game is better when you take it less seriously.
Same here. But not so often, only playing on weekend.
All I can say, it's hard to settle to a different card game especially if it has different purpose than Hearthstone, since you need to balance your gameplay between 2 or 3 rounds, instead of 1 round in Hearthstone, or you may lose badly in the following rounds.
Other than that, love the art, pretty balanced. May settle in forever if Hearthstone keep going on the bad direction.
PS. While Cyberpunk has been released recently, I may have to let go Gwent for a while. A long while.
Knowledge is Power
Reinstalled the game still not fully into this but I think I will give it another shot, if you want I am active in OOC discord server :)
Hey there!
Yeah, I get your point. The game has very strict card effects, and I can see the lack of variance/rng along with number-based win condition could make the gameplay less appealing in the long run.
Here, I'm playing some unoptimized version of Skellige meta deck, missing most of the legendaries, as my main deck. Also I like Northern Realms and Monsters, I have decks of random cards from packs for those. I usually lose with them on ladder, which doesn't feel too good, but I don't feel the need to win like in HS.
My ingame name is Ethardoth, feel free to add me if you want (you can pm me here too, for other options). I'm all in for trying and discussing different deckbuilding ideas, and power of individual cards. Also, bragging about the pulls from kegs 😁
He-he, I guess all those games against AI in Witcher 3 paid off for me 😄 Yeah, the base idea can be daunting for newcomers. But I think it's worth trying out, at least as a weekend-only fun. Glad that you enjoy it!
Have fun in the long awaited Cyberpunk! I'm hyped up too, just have to hope that my laptop GPU will hold up with those details 😩
Cool! I must admit, I'm not too familiar with discord, but I have the account. Do you have a link for OoC server so I can join? Will gladly do so. :)

if it doesn't work you got a link in the footer of OOC
Amazing, I'm in! Will check out what you guys wrote, thank you :)
Personally, I was not a fan. It was a cool concept, I just couldn’t find the motivation or the enjoyment to play.
I loathed Gwent in Witcher 3. I also found it pretty fun in the standalone version, but damn it feels p2w at times. Also I'm too into mobas anyway.
