Time ago there was a rumor about the intention to renew the classic / basic cards.
Any news about that ? (I have a bunch of classic packs waiting to be open ...)

IDK I also heard something along those lines if it's somewhere it's in the year of the phoenix announcement
They only stated that they are thinking about a classic rework in an Interview, but have nothing confirmed yet. It's just a rumor by now, plus they would only announce such a big change during the new HS year reveal which is presumibely at Blizzconline.
Isn't Blizzcon in November though?
They never announced a new year rotation in Blizzcon before, unless you are referring to another event.
I would be surprised if they change a lot of old cards to make them more viable.
I guess they could just put some more cards in the HOF this year and bring some new classic cards. I doubt that this will make the classic set more relevant overall, but at least some problematic cards could finally leave the format. I am looking at you Highrollwin van Cleef...
I see you!
I think i heard that it would be in 2021, somewhere but i can't think of where.
Living like that.
I'm talking about Blizzconline which will take place in late february and is the replacement for this years Blizzcon. It would still be a bit early, but MdM also launched earlier than usual and if they are planing major changes they would definetely announce it there to reach a wider audience.
The classic set will be changing in 2022. At a minimum, once some DH cards rotate, the classic set will get some cards (I assume from the existing sets). However, I am not sure about 2021.
I kept thinking for some reason they said that the Demon Hunter classic cards would be set by the new HS year in 2021, but I looked back at the article, and you are right! The wording threw me off, but it does say that the class gets more class cards during 2020, sounds like it should go down to only 10 like other classes in 2021, but then some time before the new HS year in 2022 they will decide the DH classic cards.
While it does make it more likely that they wait until 2022 to overhaul the entire Classic set, it doesn't guarantee that they will wait. But if it doesn't happen in April 2021, then April 2022 is very likely!
Regardless of when they do it, I stopped opening Classic packs as soon as they hinted at this being a possibility, hoping to get the full dust value for any and all cards that rotate, and then have a decent amount of packs to get the new cards naturally and saving that dust for other things. Should work out for me as long as they don't introduce a new pack type with the big changes, like "Core packs" or something. If that happened I'd be a little upset.
EDIT: If any of you have all the Classic cards, or like me and have all the Classic cards you need/want, you should also stop opening them until a potential set overhaul.
Quick! Someone give me something clever to write here.
While we still don't know, whatever new cards, rotating ones and changes to classic they might bring, it will 99% happen on march-april when the new year comes.
There's been talk about a Shaman overhaul to the classic cards like Priest had. This would be awesome. I would like to see large amounts of Wild cards buffed from time to time, cards that had cult followings but we're underpowered in standard for example the 1/3 that kept enchantments for example.

Wait, I thought there's going to be a Classic set overhaul together with next Rotation? I was pretty sure they announced it as part of the Year of the Phoenix calendar?
Was it just a dream of mine?
Will happen with start of New HS year and Hallf of fame rotation, and will be in simelair vein as priest rework.
Thats all we know
They did anounce it,it will hapepn with the rotation/hall of fame:start of New Hs year
ITs not just Shaman Its ALL classes that will happen, and id lvoe wild buffs to, But blizz is never going to do that even if could be massive improvement for overla variety or such
2021*
thats what theyve said, and for DH cards the INTIATE set will rotate.
We will get simelair vein as priest rework for All classes, get dh classic set from new cards, cards from this year and intitate set and the intiat set will Rotate out(any that wherent made part of classic) as its part of year of dragon ,not year of phoenix.
Ooooo.... What major DH cards rotate?

Lots of important cards are in the DH Initiate set, such as: Twin Slice, Battlefiend, Consume Magic, Blade Dance, Umberwing, Eye Beam, and Altruis the Outcast.
We should wait and see exactly how they decide to approach set rotation and the changes to the Classic set before getting too excited, but with most of these gone DH might actually be able to establish a fair class identity without seemingly being able to do everything.
cannot rotate DH
they have lot less cards than other classes

That will not be true in April. In fact, if they didn't rotate the DH Initiate set DH would have more cards in Standard than anyone else because the 5 extra cards they received in each of the Year of the Phoenix expansions make up for the 15 missing Classic cards.
See https://outof.cards/hearthstone/958-everything-you-need-to-know-about-the-demon-hunter-initiate-set, which states the DH Initiate set is in the Year of the Dragon for rotation purposes. Blizz will have originally said it when revealing the Initiate set.
