I enjoy slower Freljord archetypes, so I'm really looking forward to playing this.
Oh damn, these look interesting...
I mean I like the idea...but for Lissandra theming I don't really feel it, nothing about her has ever cried "Look at my big minions" before. She is all about trickery and manipulation in her lore, and in LoL she is all about crowd control. Neither of those parts of her are really displayed here.
Well her lore is a lot about freezing powerful creatures that will eventually thaw out, which I think is captured pretty well with the Frozen Thralls and summoning the Watcher. As for her league kit, her ability to deal area damage and put champions into "stasis" is captured pretty well, so I don't think it's a totally inaccurate portrayal. Her sort of "mind control" theme isn't really captured though, which I think is the only real big miss on her theme.
This is a good observation, and the more I think about it, the became obvious to me that riot wanted her design to reflect her personality rather than her league gameplay. In the lore Lissandra is portrayed as a mastermind who manipulates other people to do her dirty work, in game her state aren't good for attacking so the player in encouraged to keep her in the back row and let her thrall do the fighting, also her champion spell Entomb do behave like a crownd control ability since it temporary disables a unite.
That is not at all what I was expecting from my second-favorite champion. No Frostbite, no Stun? She's like the Queen of CC, and she barely has any CC.
I knew that she wasn't gonna get stun because riot wants every region to have a bunch of specific key words, but I was hoping for some frostbite synergy.
my guess is they wanted to expand freljord from being too lockdown focussed. Blame Seju and Ashe for coming out first

In other cases where the cost of a card matters, it takes the current cost, not the original.
Professor von Yipp, for instance, will buff a Brightsteel Protector whose cost is reduced to 1, but not a Teemo whose cost is reduced to 0.
Frozen Thrall? Man, that card has the weirdest flavor. All that talk of freezing and ice, and what does he do? Evolve stuff! Worst Death Knight in KotFT by far.
Isn't Revitalizing Roar broken now with Watcher? It lets you basically skip the normal requirement for the Watcher to cost (0), and also heals for a lot. Lissandra + Trundle/Tryndamere maybe?
I mean with the new landmarks it shouldn't be a problem to summon 8 cost units at all. You only need to summon 2 more 8cost units after Lissandra levels up and I think it would be easy to just do that
You can also alternatively use Spectral Matron on Watcher. While it does not reduce the cost outright, it lets you play multiple copies of it, giving more resilliance to your win condition, and Matron itself costs 8 to further reduce the Cost.

Anyway Lissandra does not only introduce 3 mana AOE fast speed for freljord (something that was missing!) she also gives the region more early game which was needed she is the cheapest freljord champion as of now (which is weird since she is a really strong witch), I think this transistion from legue is quite perfect they didn't leave much that lissandra doesn't do in game!
think entomb is kind of too slow, but who knows
she seems to work well with taliyah with all those land marks she creates..
hard to evaluate besides her base value which seems great 3 hp tough on turn 3 is basically immortal in terms of most removals early game.
