the only classes where this can thrive do not use huge board tokens, maybe thats why the buff is +2+2 and not +1+1
Aside from Animated Broomstick, Pen Flinger can activates it too, very good board buff
Warrior has a bunch of nice activators, such as Inner Rage or even Awaken!.
Both Inner Rage and Awaken are rotating next expansion.

This is good enough to see experimentation. I dig it
On its own, its just too slow and your opponent will likely kill everything on board before going for this card.
With Animated Broomstick and the augmerchants, this card suddenly became a lot more consistent, but its a turn 6 play, and it requires you to already have a board or otherwise its all wasted.
So many conditions for this card to actually be good. But there's definitely stuff you can do with it. If you can consistently drop tokens on board then this card is a legit threat, and stuff like Backstab can be used in a pinch to activate it the same turn you play it. I can see some use for it.
In a mid-range warrior maybe, of course if that would be a thing the time expansion hits.
You need sth. to self dmg this. Otherwise, i think it will not see much play. Ah, I forgot, you need big board, too. I guess in this caes you've won anyway.
You don't need a huge board: Fungalmancer was a strong card and it affected at most two minions. I think whether Barrens Blacksmith succeeds or fails depends on how easy the frenzy effect is to trigger.
Great with Animated Broomstick but besides that application, don't seeing it work out as well.
