Strange things since patch: match making & a bug?

I keep getting matched against players in Casual that seem to have the most basic of cards. Not fun to beat up their decks with my good collection. Is the MMR goofed up?
Also played a match against a Warlock that played the card that makes your spells cost 1 more on your next turn. For some reason Innervate cost zero and after I used it at zero mana my other spells went up.
Any of you fine folks seeing these problems as well?

Not really sure about meeting guys with basic cards in casuals. Could be that its someone trying out something that specifically uses more basic cards. Without a larger sample size, that's my best guess.
As for your second inquiry. Its likely you played Nature Studies the turn prior, which will explain why Innervate remains at 0 mana despite your opponent playing Cult Neophyte and everything went up after playing it.
Thanks for the reply. I'm sure I must have played Nature Studies the previous turn now that you mentioned it. Cheers!
I played a Shaman deck and got the new totem, as you would expect, but a few games later played against a Totem Shaman deck, and he was getting the spell damage one!
On mobile the patch always arrives a little later. Weird things can happen if players play each other on different patches. Might have been the case here.
Arena > Wild > Standard
I fought a guy in Arena who was able to roll a Strength and Air totem in the same game... something weird is going o
This ain't no place for a hero
But I was on mobile, and the patch for mobile had rolled out a few hours ago, meaning that my opponent shouldn't have been able to log in without updating the client.
I have played against someone using only basic and classic cards last weekend (so way before the patch). My best guess is people are training for Classic mode.
I notice I am confused. Something I believe isn't true. How do I know what I think I know?
