UPCOMING PATCH CHANGES FOR BOATS

I just saw that all boats like Leviathan or The Syren got a change from "summon" to "play".
I am just a casual but I play Swain really a lot so I wondered how much impact that has.
Can someone can explain to me the decisive difference or give some examples of why that matters?
THX
EDIT: Is it maybe that a "play" is faster than a "summon" and you e.g. get a Swain just for "playing" the Leviathan instead of having it "fully summoned" to the board?

“What monstrosities would walk the streets,
were people's faces as unfinished as their minds."
Any Play is also a summon, but a summon isn't necessarily a play. Plays only happen from hand, while summons are whenever it appears on the board.
Best example if Spectral Matron: As they are now, using it on a boat would make that boat would also draw you a card. If it's changed to Play, the draw doesn't happen.
Essentially, it's a nerf.
Good example.

Technically true -- on play is strictly worse than on summon -- but I can't think of any non-meme decks that are affected by this. The change would only be relevant if you had a way to either cheat out or resurrect a boat, and I've never encountered that in constructed. It makes me wonder if there's some upcoming power-combo with the about-to-be-released cards that they wanted to nip in the bud or if they just wanted to make the text more consistent.
