This radically improves Iceblood Tower, and makes the Big Spell Mage look like a serious deck.
Puzzle Box of Yogg-Saron 2.0. This can possibly get even more value (and often less) than the former as it is guaranteed 20 mana worth of spells. The fact that it is specifically Mage spells means you'll often hit secrets, making this a great card if you're in a rough spot.
20x Wildfires is possible, though HIGHLY unlikely. What fun that would be.
Here the first of the batch of Big Spells.
Hopefully, there are more to come to justify a viable archetype.
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
Another big spell for Big Spell archetypes. I'm not really a fan of random stuff, but this looks pretty good since the spells are only guaranteed to hit enemies.
Arena: Freaking insane! Best card ever! Questionmark?
Constructed: Is this better than Puzzle Box of Yogg-Saron? It is, right?
Arena > Wild > Standard
PRAISE BE UNTO YOGG-SARON DAWNGRASP!!!
Hey, you heard about that Mario guy?
I would like to Yogg, please.
A decent meme for Big Spells Mage, but probably too unreliable for anything that can't reliably cheat it out. Also, I really hope it can cast Hot Streak, like, 100 times.
I don't want to cure cancer; I want to turn people into dinosaurs.
Now this is crazy, very RNG-heavy but rarely weak. Now I believe in big spell mage.
Apparently we can't go one year without an RNG nuke for Mage. Even worse that it's actually good. I guess this is what it takes for Big Spell Mage to be viable huh?
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
Solarian without a stick but still awesome! Very happy they pushed big spell Mage with a very assertive and FUN card like this. I think big spell is gonna be the trendy deck to play XD
Yeah if you get very lucky and cast this turn 7 it can win you the game. turn 6 with coin. But remember it's luck, some spells get invalidated from lack of target like Cone of Cold
I seriously love this card, who wouldn't? It's gonna be a whole ton of fun whether anyone likes it or not : D
this is an easy yes in Arena. Why in the world not? Let it rip. It's not a reliable removal but damn son.... You're gonna have fun trying to get to turn 9 and seeing what happens....so take it, it will at least make your night. I'm picking this every time for fun but it isn't frequent (I think) and too expensive anyway.

Puzzle Box of Yogg-Saron IS BACK! Instant 5 stars from me. However i do REALLY hope it CANT cast another Rune of the Archmage. Remember that Puzzle Box of Yogg-Saron saw regular play back in the day because the random could finish the game or allow a comeback.
Rune of the Archmage is A LOT more reliable because it can only cast mage spells AND it can only target enemies. This makes Rune of the Archmage so much stronger. Also remember that Solarian Prime had to get nerfed, and she had a similar effect. Except she guaranteed 5 spells, while Rune of the Archmage can cast less but way bigger spells. Not only that, but the spell pool for mage is quite good. Ever since the Core set there has been a lot less bad cards, including spells in the pool which made "random" way too reliable. And i feel like Rune of the Archmage will be reliable and good enough to see play. (Which i dislike, i like good o'l 50/50 between good and "stuck in hand till i win or lose" level of trash.)
Rune of the Archmage will see play in every control/slower mage deck in standard, Big spell mage in both standard/wild AND it might see play as a 1-off in Spell mage, just because it could generate some huge amount of burn for 9 mana. Actually scratch that, for 7 mana because of 2x Incanter's Flow.
I dont mind seeing cards like these in mage, as long as they make questline mage a bit less popular by actually giving them an alternative.
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
I think that this is the first 5 star all around card I've seen so far. Regardless of what you get, there is going to be value in it.
Well this is a pretty insane big spell for the archetype blizzard wants to push. Reminiscent of Puzzle Box of Yogg-Saron but only targets enemies like Solarian Prime
TREMBLE before.... the most legendary dragon that ever existed!
Yet more casino cards for mage. Because obviously this is what we need after the total pr disaster that was quest mage.
But this is a good card, even if I don't care much for it. Basically this will nearly always either clear the board or freeze it, and since its directed at enemies, its sometimes going to do face damage as well.
At very least its does cost mana, so we're not facing the bs from The Amazing Reno again. An overall solid card for big spell mage, that only occasionally causes someone to tear his eyebrows out in frustration, as mage either play this or they discover this out of thin air.
I do hope we dont have anymore of that puzzlebox into puzzlebox bs. But Im not putting it past team5 to 'accidentally' leave this a possibility.
This is a nice take on the cast random spells effect. Pay 9 mana to get 20 mana of spells seems like a good deal. Of course the random targeting takes away from that, and it doesn't say "only targets enemies".
Fun and powerful.
How I felt when I saw this card:
<Your Ad Here>
At enemies.
Smart of them not to make it Arcane spell, Magister repeating this would've been insane.
Maybe there will be an achievement to get 2 box of Yogg-Saron with this one
This is going to be amazing. I can't wait to throw this out and see what happens. I presume that the 'cast at enemies' condition is just to ensure the damage spells always benefit you. It will be like Solarian Prime in that respect, just without the spell damage.
Unfortunately, common sense isn't as common as it should be.
Love to see that 'at enemies' there. Can't wait to see a highlight of someone waiting ages for the spell to finish because it keeps casting 0-mana spells.
Welcome to the site!
One of the reasons to play Big Spell Mage. I was so happy for the Angry Chicken podcast which revealed this new card.
Bit too random, and 20 mana worth of spells isn't THAT much. Not sure if it'll see play outside some meme decks.
