Welcome to the modern thread of The Card Treasure Hunt. This is a game where you try to guess which Hearthstone card fits the current riddle. When it is solved the winner then comes up with the next one. Feel free to employ poetry, simple questions, modified song lyrics, or anything else your imagination desires.
If you have seen this thread and have always wanted to play I invite you to try- it's a fun distraction to check your phone and look the riddle over. Think it through while you're doing something boring like work or waiting in line : D
There are not many rules aside from not making too many guesses at a time (two at a time is the polite limit). Asking questions to the riddle is advisable if stumped. If it is your turn to make a riddle it is asked that you check in at least a couple times a day to verify guesses; if you are not able to you are allowed to concede the next riddle to the public.
Besides the leader board below, I also compile the winners of every month. Think of it as Standard for the game. Stick around and try to be the winner for the month!
Very appropriately, the reigning champion of the leader board, anchorm4n will start us off! Special thanks to R and madcat for helping tally and make it simple to transfer the leader board as well as to DestroyerR for resurrecting such an enjoyable game at OoC.

Bees... a druid deck? Linecracker maybe.
Right class, wrong card.
So it's a Snowflipper Penguin, Tortollan Forager and a Steel Beetle or BEEEES!!!? I don't know what it can be.
Those cards are all support for the one you're looking for. The biggest hint is probably in the first line.
Knight of the Wild then. Just forgot about this card...
Oh man i was just logging in to guess that
That's right! Back to you again R :)
First throw the pebbles.
Then throw the pebbles.
Threw last pebble? Ok!
Now you have a rock.
Smells like a Shaman card to me. However the best fit I found as I lazily scrolled through them was Command the Elements which i don't believe is right.
It's really close. Just add a rock part.
Lightforged Cariel?
No. Previous answer is almost right. Just wrong class.
Those pebbles are pirates.
With Rokara as a rock.
Now you don't need guides.
If know the answer - talk.
Raid the Docks
Aye!
An easy one to get things rolling again:
If you wanna go all the way down
Better take a guide
Who makes sure you don't drown
Or you may never return to the light
Sir Finley, Sea Guide?
That's correct, back to you!
This legendary is really big.
I'd like to even say colossal.
It cannot be destroyed quick.
It's hard to turn it into a fossil.
I think that for finding an answer you don't need any tips.
Colaque. Are we playing ping pong? Where are R and Live4vrRdieTryn?
There was silence here for quite a long time. Most likely people have forgotten about this game.
P.S. Nope, not this card.
Oh my Yogg, sorry. Don't know what happened there.
Is it Blackwater Behemoth then?
Nope again. :)
This card doesn't contain Colossal keyword.
Let's try to necro this.
Rattlegore?
Nope. The very first answer (Command the Elements) was the closest. Hint: this is a questline.
First throw the Pebbles.
Then throw the Pebbles.
Threw last Pebble? Ok!
Now you have a Rock.
That riddle has already been solved (Raid the Docks), the current one is
This legendary is really big.
I'd like to even say colossal.
It cannot be destroyed quick.
It's hard to turn it into a fossil.
Guesses already made are Colaque and Blackwater Behemoth. Rattlegore has not been ruled out yet.
Oh, really? Actually, I already forgot which card I was thinking of lmao. So... Rattlegore is suitable and we will assume that it is correct. Your turn.
Sorry, I'm pretty busy these days. I think I can provide a riddle on Tuesday. If anyone wants to jump in before that, feel free to do so!
I am dead and I am alive,
Blood and oil run through my veins.
I'm sharp and pointy like a knife.
Buffing me might raise your gains,
Cause if they kill me I will sting.
Look for me in the land of the lonely.
I'm just a lord, not quite a king.
My upgrades are real, they aren't phoney.
Scrap Golem?
Nope
I have no clue. Undead which is mech (or weapon) with deathrattle and it also want to be buffed?
That's all correct with the exception of Undead. It is a dual tribe card though.
Augmented Porcupine
That's right, you're next!
Nooo, i don't have a riddle for you now. A work took all my free time. Gonna be busy all this week. And maybe another week too. Give me a break. I don't have a free time. Anyone want participate? Now im just too busy. Thank you!
alright, it's been almost a day. actually, my previous message is a riddle.
i hope yall just busy and I don't need to give a hint. because with hint this riddle will be too easy.
I have an idea of which way this might go but I actually am pretty busy at the moment :D
so... let hit it until new year?
Hm. Anachronos?
nope. the text of the riddle has no meaning and does not carry any meaning. the answer has nine letters and consists of two words.
Hint?
I give it to you
Now or never
Take it
Naga Giant!
I'm back by the way : D long story but now I'm back to win ALL the riddles >; ]
Correct!
Glad to see you back! Please explain the solution for me, I still don't get it :D
read only the first letters in each line
I am off the Buggy Delivering Noodle Fists.
However it's Still all about that Savory Stuff.
Trundling Along While Swiping for Annonymous Gay Sex on Lists.
Ironic it is How I Still Can't Make the Cut.
Well, Pharaoh's Blessing is definitely delivering some noodle fists, but the rest is leading me nowhere.
Are you sure all this describes just one card? :)
It's in Standard! Feel free to ask questions
It's a new card
Corpse Explosion?
A "new" card, so I'm thinking MotLK, and "off the buggy" makes me think it shipped with a bug that has since been fixed.
Meat Grinder because it's about the savory stuff = Corpses, might fit the sexy line and doesn't make the cut in DK decks?
Yes ⚓️! I thought i had killed this game off for like the third time
Meat Grinder is certainly trundling along! Kindly explain the noodle fists?
There's a dark joy in this, watching them lose their halo.
This might end in epic proportions, even if it doesn't look like much from the get-go.
Sorry for the delay, work kept me extremely busy this week.
Blood Knight?
Very close, but not quite what you're looking for. Tell me if you need a hint!
Ah, Light's Sorrow then. A better fit for the joy line.
That's right, you're next!
Oh yay - I guessed one right!
Oh no - now I have to think of a suitable riddle!
(That was not the riddle. I'll be back later with one.)
Faster than a speeding river of ice
More powerful* than a frost ray
Able to leap over decklists in a single bound
Look! It's -Card Name-!
*Slightly. Maybe.
Noodlefists was a reference to its first iteration, Meat Wagon
I will venture a guess it is Howling Blast?
No, not Howling Blast. This card has rotated to Wild.
Faster than a speeding river of ice - "river of ice" = Avalanche; add "speeding" and you might get Animated Avalanche; "faster" = cheaper?
More powerful* than a frost ray - potentially / conditionally deals more damage than Ray of Frost
Able to leap over decklists in a single bound - this could mean it's a neutral card?
Look! It's -Card Name-!
Glacial Shard?
It is a small/quick minion, but not Glacial Shard. It's from a more recent set than that.
Your Ray of Frost analysis is 100% correct.
"Leaping over" decklists references the fact that this card is rarely seen on the ladder. It's not in any lists.
Saturday morning hint: though this card belongs in a frosty deck, it does not Freeze anything.
And thus, if you search "freeze" in the collection manager, you will not find it.
Glacier Racer?
Yes!
As my first riddle, I am accepting feedback. In riddle form, of course.
To Write Amazing Riddles Here, DragonDraena
(for something such as your chick, Tat for Tat... )
Italicize and Rhyme it First-off; Backwards Going To, Braw!
This Above Is All You Need to Know What there is to That!
Zzeraku the Warped?
No, but I'm very curious how you got to that. Also why the cake is a lie
I interpreted "something such as your chick" as a minion with the dragon tribe because I thought you might refer to DragonDraena's nickname and profile picture.
My choice fell on Zzeraku because "Braw" spelled backwards is "warb" which is close enough to "warped".
"The cake is a lie" is a reference to the video game Portal where the player has to solve mazes created by an AI that promises a cake in case of success. There are graffiti on the maze's walls that state "the cake is a lie", meaning the player should try to escape because they'll probably gonna be killed no matter what. I really really liked that game, but I have also found additional meaning in the quote: I personally see it as the antithesis to the American Dream. The story of the dishwasher who becomes a millionaire is an illusion of the capitalist elite that's meant to keep you working your ass off.
I was thinking dragons or whelps also.
(I'm honored to be in your riddle!)
Maybe backwards To Braw is simply Warbot?
You got it!
And yes, there is very little class transference in this country and it is suss how unmentioned it is as an issue.
Who am I?
I've doubled the Loot, but
Lost sight of myself , what
Happens after I meet my end
Does the Cycle continue, again?
Skyvateer?
No, not a pirate. It does have a deathrattle though.
Polluted Hoarder?
Yes!
You had me thinking about how our current system of extractive capitalism is a disaster for communities and for the planet.
I Know What You Did this Last Summer-
Paying So Much to Hit for So Little.
Like Dr. Strange You Trapped them in Wonder:
You Left and Came Back, Murdered and Giggled.
Is this a Corrupted card?
Nope. Way earlier. This may be too eclectic since what happened this Summer wasnt seen by all.....
I'll spruce it a bit
Supercollider?
Yeah, I'll be struggling if I need to rely on my knowledge of horror(ish) movies.
Wow that's actually incredibly close but a little older than that. It is a reference to an unintended interaction that was happening with a card in Summer. I admit I abused it a bit heheheh
Wretched Tiller?
Too far back but a damn good guess all the same
The Darkness?
That's from Kobolds, yeah? So is this card
Apologies that the riddle tanked. Pretty sure next guess will be it
A card that got nerfed from Kobolds that I remember playing quite a lot myself was Possessed Lackey. Man, what a cool set that was. The power level was completely through the roof, many of the cards are still staples in Wild to this day.
Nope that isnt it! Yeah K&C was where I started actually spending money on this stupid game and became a whale
Guess may be completely off the deep end with this one, but Spiteful Summoner kinda comes to mind with this?
Nope! I think it was DragonDraena who was super close. It was a bug that happened last year that did exactly what the riddle states. The card is so useless it usually only surfaced in Duels
Is it one of the Kobold legendary weapons? Maybe Val'anyr?
Not that one
A bugged legendary weapon that shows up in duels? My last guess, but possibly The Runespear?
Nor is it the Runespear! That weapon is already hella busted as it is....
I don't play Duels but the last line of the riddle would fit Kingsbane very well.
This is painful aye yi yi
.....nuuuuuuu
Woecleaver?
Start with one woe, cleave it in two?
Yuuuuusssss. Apologies for the fail
No apology needed - you assumed we were knowledgeable about both bugs and Duels, a reasonable error.
I will think of a new riddle tomorrow and my goal will be to have it guessed in fewer tries than the Cleaver of Woe.
My scales will protect you
but not if I'm lonely.
Raid Boss Onyxia?
Skull of the Man'ari?
No and no.
Correct on the dragon scales idea, but this protection is not for the minion.
Twilight Guardian?
Right mechanic (dragon in hand), but this minion is newer than Twilight Guardian. I did love Dragon Priest, back when Twilight Guardian saw more play.
There is a hint to the stats in the size of the lines of the riddle.
Hmmm that would lead me to offensive protection via Crazed Netherwing or defensive protection in the form of Emberscale Drake.
Yes! The armor protection from Emberscale Drake who needs a friend in hand to be anything more than a 5/5.
3 for 3? Kinda meh these days.
But 3+3+3 for 3 when done with grace?
Holy cow, sign me up for this deal!
Unliving Champion?
Arcane Bolt?
None of those.
Hint: All three lines are about one card which is older than the ones you were guessing, but still in Standard.
Handmaiden?
Very close, but no. Maybe the last line will help you to make the final conclusion.
I am stumped. Is this a 3-cost card?
Yes it is!
Deliverance!
That's correct! Your next :-)
In the process of thinking about a music-focused expansion, I've come up with a Treasure Hunt featuring a song from one of my favorite musicals.
Part of the song:
Do not put your faith
In a cape and a hood
They will not protect you
The way that they should
And take extra care with strangers
Even flowers have their dangers
And though scary is exciting
Nice is different than good.
Now I know, don't be scared
Granny is right, just be prepared
Isn't it nice to know a lot?
And a little bit not.
The character who sings this song (well known from fairy tales) is not a collectible Hearthstone card. But her adversary (the dangerous stranger) is a Wild card that used to see plenty of play, but has been powercrept over time.
Kindly Grandmother?
What a cool riddle!
Right in one guess!
ETA this fun fact: in stage productions of Into the Woods, the role of the Big Bad Wolf is usually played by the same actor that plays one of the Prince Charmings. This highlights their similarities in the narrative.
Ok, well I'm throwing one out like it or don't..
We've Seen on Every Corner
That's Often Blamed on Dogs.
Kill Me and I've Conquered.
Deduct Just What in Such Box.
Mailbox Dancer?
That's a pretty good guess but this card is much more recent
How about Boneshredder?
