Seems a bit slow to get full value out of
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
"If" Dragon Paladin is to be meta viable, this will be a useful tool to make sure you have a dragon in hand to trigger your battlecry effects and synergy-buffs, but the statement starts with a big "If" ..!
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
The manathirst requirement sees a bit too late to matter in most cases, i guess its mostly there so you dont feel bad about topdecking this card late into the game. However Discovering a dragon has always been a really solid thing. (Remember Draconic Lackey?) And the Dragon pool isn't that big right now. (23 total dragons so far in standard, if you only take neutrals + paladin dragons.) So i guess this might see play, as long as the dragons are good enough.
The only bad thing i can say about this card is mostly that a lot of good dragons are rotating next year, so who knows if its good enough without Raid Boss Onyxia and Kazakusan in the pool.
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
Not too bad, especially given that it'll likely see play in control decks whether or not you have dragons in it. Not to mention that the card can give you Anachronos, and that can sometimes save your life.
Might even sometimes give you a win con in Kazakusan as well.
Considering the dragon pool is very good atm (but may get worse after the next Standard Rotation) this should see play in different archetypes. Most beneficial would be dragon paladin and as we've seen in the Wronchi video, getting a 5/5 dragon with Taunt and Divine Shield after playing Timewarden is very good.
TREMBLE before.... the most legendary dragon that ever existed!
If I drew this early, I don't know if I would want to hold this for four or more turns, but there's no way a 5/5 with taunt for 1 mana wouldn't be great at any point in the game. Hell, even if it accomplishes nothing, by turn 7, you probably end up floating a mana crystal or 2.
late game 5/5 taunt for 1... I really don't see how this is a bad thing. Early game, especially with Questline, works well to potentially help with tempo. I get that manathirst is supposed to give more purpose to cards that have low late game appeal that are better at the beginning, and this card exemplifies it pretty well. Seriously, if you didn't pop it early to get something in your hand to push questline along, you get a 2 for late game for 1. Still good value
Manathirst 7 is a bit steep, but decent effect that you're happy to play out anyway.
Hey, you heard about that Mario guy?
Very versatile card, even without the Manathirst portion of it.
