Prepare for Tribal, Make it Double - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

Competition Theme: Prepare for Tribal, Make it Double

There are two types of people in this world. Err, well actually there's quite a bit more than two, but we're going to focus specifically on getting two of them together.

  • You must make a card that synergizes with dual-type minions.
    • This can be in the form of something like "Do something with [minion type A] or [minion type B]" or "Do something with a minion that has two minion types".
    • Your card must synergize with exactly two minion types. No more, no less.

This week marks the first week of season 6, and Moondreamer has asked us to kick it off with a competition of two tribes!

As always, I can be reached through Discord or here on the site via PM if you have any issues to report.

Competition Phases

Here are the phases of this card design competition

  • Submission Phase: Starts on Mon, Jan 9 17:00 EST (GMT -0500). Runs until Sat, Jan 14 17:00 EST (GMT -0500)
  • Voting Phase: Starts on Sat, Jan 14 17:00 EST (GMT -0500). Runs until Sun, Jan 15 16:00 EST (GMT -0500)
  • Finalist Phase: Starts on Sun, Jan 15 17:00 EST (GMT -0500). Runs until Mon, Jan 16 17:00 EST (GMT -0500)
  • Winner Selected: After finalist voting concludes and we validate votes.

Okay, now that Season 6 has officially begun, we have some important news to share: there will be a prize for having the most wins in the season! Like an actual, material reward for having the most wins, with something smaller for second and third place. More details will come tomorrow when we post an article on the site's front page advertising the comp, but just want to get it out there that this time, we're playing for keeps haha :D We expect your A-game!

And as an obvious reminder, we still expect you to play fairly. If we catch you making alternate accounts, or voting irregularly, we will come down on you as appropriate. Yes there's a prize involved, but we still do this in the name of fun. And it's not like we're handing out cash lol.

Edit: The prizes, for total clarity, are as follows:
First place: 1 month of free Premium on the website + Derpcorn enamel pin + Derpcorn sticker
Second place: Derpcorn enamel pin + Derpcorn sticker
    Third place: Derpcorn sticker

To add onto this, I do realize that I just won the prologue competition.

For the sake of fairness, that win won't count towards the total since that competition wasn't officially part of the season.

Anyway, with that being said, here's my idea; I'm not 100% convinced on the stat-line or cost, but I think it fulfills the prompt successfully:

It's similar to Spitelash Siren but focusing on the Hunter's two main minion-types and their Deathrattle affinities. Its placement in Darkmoon Races is very deliberate: I want it to be in the same Year as Augmented Porcupine especially, alongside cards like Zixor, Apex Predator, Carrion Studies, and Darkmoon Tonk. Mech being first in the text is also important: remember that Boomsday will have already rotated by then, so no Mecharoo shenanigans outside of Wild.

...I have a weird obsession with naming my Legendaries in the "(Name), (Descriptor)" style lol

I'm gonna say I don't particularly like the idea of giving a prize, physical or otherwise. I think it makes the whole thing more competitive and the best thing of this comps is how casual they feel, despite the excellent general quality of the cards.

Anyways, here's my first ideas for this comp:

Don't know if Amethos should only count unique Totems instead of all copies like it currently does.

Deadmoon Raider might be better as a Neutral, as I'm not sure if the effect fits Rogue, even if the tribes do.

Edit: changed Deadmoon Raider to a Battlecry instead of a passive effect according to linkblade's feedback.

I can understand that. I won't say with certainty that we'll be doing this every Season from now on; we're just trying something different to encourage participation. Maybe it works, maybe it blows up in our faces, but we won't know without trying, and right now our level of engagement has been small to say the least :/ If it helps, the prizes are something small, more of a "oh, neat" reward than a "hell yeah!" grand prize kind of thing...if that makes sense.

Regarding your cards, isn't Deadmoon Raider an absurd removal option? As long as you control one Undead and one Pirate (or two of these), the Reborn and Rush will continuously come back, meaning you can trade into an enemy board with this one minion as many times as you can manage, APM style.

@linkblade91 I totally get that and, yeah, it might be a good thing. Sorry if I was too negative. It's awesome you're trying new things.

About Deadmoon Raider, I wanted it to be a discount Restless Mummy if you had the two tribes, but I didn't realize you could go infinite. I guess I'm a bit rusty, since it's the first (ish) comp of the season 😅 I know I could achieve this effect if I make the Rush passive and the Reborn a Battlecry, but it feels very unintuitive this way.

    Very cool theme, Moondreamer!

I'm a bit disappointed that you beat me to the Beast / Mech card for Hunter, linkblade. I'll see if I can find greener pastures or try and come up with a better effect than you :P Your card would come in very handy in my Augmented Deathrattles Hunter deck for sure, so that's a high bar to pass.

While I understand Wailor's point of view as well, I think it's a good idea to try out adding prizes to the competitions, especially after having read linkblade's additional explanation. Most of us will have a hard time to gather those wins so my guess is the overall feeling will stay as casual as we know it. My one gripe are the prizes for the second and third places: it's nice to reward more people than the winner, but that's almost bound to end up in a tie. Do you already have plans for that case? I'd be super hyped for a showdown competition between tied competitors :D

All that said, I'll be off for a three days work trip starting in two hours, so don't expect me to be as active as usual. I'll try to peek in in the evenings and use the boring phases for some brainstorming, but typing out feedback on mobile is quite tedious so I guess I'll boil that down to the bone as much as possible this week. Good luck everybody!

An idea that revolves around both Dragons and Naga needing stuff to occur in hand, either having it being held or being played while holding this. Also, one of each means Discovering a Dragon and a Naga.

    Let the season begin!

Should a space expansion ever come to Hearthstone, this is exactly what it would entail in my eyes. A void full of space elemental lords and giant space dragons.

Slightly late, but welcome back everyone!

Inspired by Scourge Tamer. Undead Beast is actually the most common type combination in the game and Zombeasts themselves are included in this, so I'm a big fan of this combination being playable for Hunter. That being said, this card might be a bit too ambitious, so here's also a solid Undead Pirate card:

I was thinking of your deck when I created it lol. It's not a perfect fit - if it buffed the Porcupine, that would be better - but they can still work together!

Sorry if I kind of sniped your muse out from under you :/

Hello! Happy everyone is enjoying the theme.

This is my entry for this week's competition. I've always been fond of Descent of Dragon's Dragon Hunter, and would really like to see it again in the future. This is my attempt at combining Dragons and Beasts in Hunter!

I made a fun custom expansion called Holidays at Un'Gol Island. You should check it out :)

Initially I wanted to create a Hunter version of Vast Wisdom, but this looks more interesting. Since you still have to pay the full cost of the first minion, it shouldn't be too much Mana cheating, but stuff like Alleycat into Darkmoon Tonk would be pretty juicy. I'm still debating to reduce the Cost to 2.

Will add artwork and a custom watermark later (and hopefully feedback for you all).

Been playing a lot of WoW recently so here's a perfect character for a dual tribe minion. Bring the storm onto your enemy! And like in the lore, Raszageth and the Primalists infuse dragons with elemental power. I think it fits both tribe's fantasy. Elementals creating a powerful chain of effects each turn and dragons wanting to have dragons in hand, ready to drop next turn. Perhaps 3 damage is too much and should change it to 2.

    Feedback:

    Show Spoiler

anchorm4n - I like it mechanically, it's a neat effect. however it should definetly have a mana cost limit similar to Vast Wisdom. However, i don't really feel how this has synergy with either beasts or mechs. Might as well say random minions, doesn't require or encourage tribal decks.

Moondreamer - awesome idea tbh, 10/10 flavor. Gameplay wise tho… no one would play dragons in their decks i think. Super super rarely do you ever want to kill your own minions in HS, cause 2 bodies is almost always better than 1 big guy. If this card were real people would just play beast face hunter i think. Only a rush or charge dragon would make it somewhat playable as intended.

AeroJulwin - neat idea, if we ever get undead rogue. Until then this is only gonna be seen in pirate decks. But it's a good card. As for the reanimator, change the art. Nothing resembling necromancer or scourge or evil there, just some elf. Also i think it's not really a Zombeast then? Maybe just "Stitch together and undead and a beast"

Demonxz95 -  cool idea but i worry slightly about priest and summoning 7 of this dude over and over. One of those cards that has the potential to be nasty if he gets the support for it.

Neoguli - simple enough card, nothing to criticize but also nothing that really impresses me personally. But since a simple "discover stuff, keep all 3 if" card won last time perhaps the wider audience enjoys simpler things.

Wailor - Are there really that many totems that you'd want to copy their effects? Most are just add cards to your hand or buff something. Don't think there is enough reason to play the totem guy.

    I'll boop you

New idea. Still not 100% sold on it, but I think it's better than my previous ones.

I think the effect is the most interesting and "neat" so far; and the flavor works is on point for the tribes involved.

Regarding balance, my initial feeling is that it's too cheap, but you need a lot of preparation for it to work, and power level nowadays is a lot higher than when I used to play. So I guess it's fine? Dunno, listen to other people in this regard.

    Neoguli
Flavor isn't very lore-appropriate. My main suggestion would be to drop the Naga tag, similar to how [Hearthstone Card (Dragonsnap) Not Found] is classified as just Beast (and not Naga-Beast). Not a fan of the art, either.

    Demonxz95
Hey, I uploaded that watermark to Hearthcards! I love seeing it used!

I like the effect of triggering Battlecries from your hand and I think 7 Mana is quite appropriate, given how strong the effect can be. That said, it makes me wonder a couple things:

    • Do effects that target the user (like Twilight Guardian's) taget Constellos instead?
    • If you're only holding a single Dragon and it has a "hold a Dragon" requirement (again, like Twilight Guardian), does it count itself and always triggers?

I'm guessing the answer for these is yes in both cases, but I wanted to know.

    Aerojulwin
Not a fan of Eversong Reanimater, as it's very similar to Scourge Tamer and I like that one better. However, if you decide to go with it I'd change the artwork. MotLK depicts a clash between the high elves and the undead, so it's weird to have an elf character who sinergizes with Undead.

Regarding Captain Shivers, I think it's your better card and I like it quite a lot. I like how it can be used with just Pirates or just Undead, but it's much better if you combine both (what I tried with Deadmoon Raider, but much better executed).

    moondreamer
Definetly the most flavorful card of the bunch and good candidate for winning. I think you could probably increase the buff to +3/+3, as that's the baseline for buff cards like Blessing of Kings. The art should probably depict a Dragon eating an animal or something (I like this one, and it fits Hearthstone artstyle quite well, even if it's not 100%)

    anchorm4n
The effect is cool, but I have no idea what the flavor could be. Maybe a name contrasting nature and artificial stuff? I don't know.

    BasilAnguis
The artwork isn't the best, as it looks like a WoW screenshot, but the effect has very interesting gameplay. I like how the first Dragon you infuse has its effect guaranteed by virtue of Raszageth being an Elemental, but you need to keep playing Elementals to maintain the effect.

I think 3 damage isn't too much, as you need to do a lot of heavy lifting to maintain the chain going. Plus, 2 damage AoE is very weak at turn 6, even if you can potentially go infinite.

Feedback, on a Wednesday no less:

    Show Spoiler

Wailor - This is a good card that can pop off in interesting ways, but its costed such that it won't happen too early in the game to be abusive. Plus you could whiff by drawing the other Cultist off this heh. My only problem is a small one: it should just say "Swap their Costs." at the end. See: Vast Wisdom, Prismatic Lens, etc.

BasilAnguis - Did you mean to skip over me in your feedback? It looks like you had it at the end, but deleted or forgot about it lol :P Anyway, this is a really neat card: I could see a nice flow going between them. Whether it should be 3-damage or 2 really depends on how many Dragon/Elemental dual-type minions there are in that particular set, because they would be the easiest means of chaining multiple Battlecries in a row. The safe bet is to knock it down to 2 (and don't forget a comma after "turn"). Last thing I'll mention is that the art is a little…off. Not sure if it's blurry, and there's something in the frame in the bottom-left that you might not want to be there. Still, the card is cool.

anchorm4n - I will echo Basil's concerns in-that the card doesn't require or push a dual-type deck. You could play Tag Team in anything, really, because the effect is self-contained.

Moondreamer - The flavor of this is perfect hehe. Is it a good card, though? Hard to say: you need a Beast on the field that will survive long enough to be buffed and maybe get some hits in, only you plan to remove it later for a (larger) buff on a Dragon. You're gonna feel real sad if the Dragon is removed quickly afterward - that's like a two-for-one special for your opponent.

AeroJulwin - I like Captain Shivers more than the Zombeast card. In my opinion Zombeasts should have remained uniquely tied to DK Rexxar, given it's the sole thing making the card special. Shivers is also more elegant in its design, I feel, and more flavorful overall. You can easily imagine a crew of ghost-pirate cards to go alongside this :)

Demonxz95 - This is cool, but also concerning. In some ways it goes against an important rule of Hearthstone: Start-of-Game effects aside, you should have to play your cards. We always knock those "if this is in your hand, do X" effects, but Constellos encourages you to hoard your best Battlecries so-as-to trigger them without playing the minions. Is that okay? Maybe, but maybe not…

Neoguli - Like some of the others I am not a fan of the art. Not much to say beyond that, really: it's a pretty straight-forward workhorse kind of card. It's a little too simple for someone like myself who delves into uniquely complicated Legendaries half the time, but that doesn't mean it can't be appealing for others.

I hope these two fellows fit the rules; they both interact with two specific minion types (if you consider 'Amalgam' a type - I mean, if 'Imp' is a type... I'm not still salty about how vague that is).

Both cards aim to enable tribal decks by making buffs that target minion types, like Dragon Speaker, more consistent. Experiment is a Darkmoon card and Tur'ribe is a Sunken City card. (the first should be an epic and the second should have a Battlecry:, I'll add that for submission)

    Feedback:

    Show Spoiler

Linkblade: I'd bump him up to 5 mana, for future balancing reasons. Having a 3-mana Mech with Deathrattle die and summon King Krush on turn 3 feels bad, and could be a possibility as is. At 5 mana, that's still a possibility, but feels… well, bad, but in line with current large minion cheats, at least. Flavorwise, setwise, otherwise, it's a fantastic and interesting card. I'd love to play with it.

Wailor: Lord Amethos makes me think, at least, which I like. But it's not a long think. Any Totem deck with 5-10 Elementals won't rely on Totem synergies, so you'd be choosing Totems like Mana Tide Totem with general effects. In which case, maybe you can get a 4-4 with Taunt that heals 1 and draws a card and gives +1 Attack at turn end and gives +2 attack to neighbors. If it's turn 6 and you're very lucky. Totems are a tough type to build a multi-class card for. They don't play nice with others.

On the flip side, Deadmoon Raider feels solid. It could work. A minion-heavy Pirate Rogue could want it, if such a thing exists. It doesn't feel exciting in an existing-deck-completion or a power-fantasy sort of way, though.

Oop. You posted another one. Blackgill Cultist is the strongest card for sure. The deck he promotes feels real. Creating a gateway between small Murlocs and tall Demons feels very Warlock, very doable. As everyone knows, Team 5 loves to tease us eager boys with big Demons that never see play - any excuse to make that happen sounds good to me!

Neoguli: It's a solid card. Resource generation. Stats. Fits with the themes (though I'd change it to a Dragon, as said above). I'd be more excited about it if a Dragon-Naga deck existed or felt relevant. Is there such a deck out there that I don't know about?

Demon: You put this at 7 mana so I could play it with Drakkari Enchanter, didn't you? Heheeee. I like it. I guess it'd be most powerful in Druid or Shaman, with Bearon Gla'shear or Topior. There isn't a glut of exciting high-cost Elemental battlecries, though. Maybe if it were costed lower and the cards it draws from were mana-capped?

Aero: Captain Shivers is the more straightforward, strong card. Exactly what such a Rogue deck would need, I suppose. Crafting a custom Zombeast is more exciting, though. While the lore doesn't work currently, as noted, I'd enjoy a card that explored that more than a card which explores Pirates and Undead for Rogue. Maybe there's another way to do it. (Note that Reanimator would be spelled with an o, though.)

As an amusing sidenote, the artwork you chose for Shivers deserves an award for most used in fan competitions. Somebody oughta tell the artist.

Moondreamer: As noted, the flavor is on point, but the idea of eating your own minion feels irredeemably bad. Maybe it would feel better if you specified 'original stats' instead, but then why buff the Beast? Maybe there's another way to swing the same flavor, whether through a repeating effect with all Beasts, a minion or weapon that triggers a similar mechanic, or such.

anchorman: I'm not sure. On one hand, it's an exciting swing that can miss and is gated behind the opponent's actions (somewhat), so I'm not calling for a higher mana cost. But it also doesn't promote a specific style of deck. A solid 3 star card for me, since it seems workable but I don't think it promotes a deck or flavor that I enjoy.

Basil: I love it. Wouldn't change a thing besides the artwork and the first blank line of text. Favorite card in this thread, promotes an interesting, new deck and makes me rethink lesser-used minions. Think up some good flavor text for that beastie! I want to see him win.

    Better call Thrall!

    Alright, feedback time!

    Linkblade91

Nothing wrong with naming your cards "(Name), (Descriptor)" or some variant of that. It's a tried and working formula.

As for the card, I'm not entirely sure what to say but I think it just works. I think Me0203 might have a point as far as how cheap high-costed Beasts can be cheated out is concerned.

    Wailor

I do like Totem synergy, but Lord Amethos doesn't seem particularly strong since Totems generally don't have huge effects. The best thing you could copy with it is probably Grand Totem Eys'or, which can be strong, but then how slow you are to copy it puts its power level down quite a bit.

Deadmoon Raider is fine. I reckon that this text structure is one we'll probably encounter quite a bit.

Blackgill Cultist is my favorite of your cards. I think it's the best conceived some Demons and Murlocs are both swarmy archetypes, and it can even be synergized with small Murlocs (most of them) and large Demons.

    Neoguli
This card isn't terrible exciting, but it's okay.

    AeroJulwin

Eversong Reanimater is alright, but the artwork doesn't really fit the card.

Captain Shivers might be just used as a 5 mana 5/4 with Rush that's Immune while attacking (since just like Tundra Rhino, its effect will also work on itself). The Pirate direction is definitely stronger, although given that Mr. Smite exists, your ground for him might be taken already even if he has been nerfed whereas your Undead route is a weaker Ace Hunter Kreen. The card probably lives by the fact that its effect works on itself.

    Moondreamer
Incredibly flavorful, but what happens if the Beast is dead before you play the Dragon? Does the Dragon still eat it anyway because that's not particularly intuitive and would also cause some gameplay problems.

    Anchorm4n
A fine card, but I too am on the edge as to whether or not it counts since it doesn't really want you to play a dual-tribal deck with these things. Obviously it works better there, but it's not like you have to. I'm afraid I don't know.

    BasilAnguis
I guess that's pretty cool. However, the art isn't particularly great (as some others have pointed out) and the textbox seems quite bloated. The use of the word "infuse" to refer to the Battlecry transferring is also not entirely ideal given the Infuse mechanic in MaCN.

    Me0203
This type of type-changing is something that we might see in the game. However, I'm pretty sure neither of these cards count. Volatile Experiment because it doesn't interact with two tribes at baseline, just one. And "Discover a friendly minion" is a bit weird unless it's supposed to also give you a copy of the minion in your hand, which if it is, it should specify "a copy of a friendly minion". Tur'ribe on the other hand interacts with more than two at baseline which isn't allowed.

Submitted my card after changing some things, the feedback was useful! Mainly, swapped my artwork for the one Wailor suggested (I like yours better as well!) and made the Beast-eating a more feel-good moment by reducing the cost of the card to 2 mana and by making it so that the Dragon gains Rush as well. To compensate, the buff is now +2/+2 instead of +2/+3. The wording was changed to "The next dragon you play eats it to gain..." so that it's clearer that the Beast needs to be alive for the buffs to be granted.

I feel like I don't have much to add when it comes to feedback to others, so I'll just say a few things:

    Show Spoiler

Anchorm4n: I actually really enjoy the idea behind this card's effect (though I agree it pushes its luck a bit when it comes to the rules) but I feel like you are going to need to find a really good artwork to sell the card, which is always quite difficult. That's why I think, for custom cards, a top-down approach where you start from the artwork and then think of the effect is pretty much always better.

Wailor: I like this effect and I've quite enjoyed the addition of the Murloc package to various Reno Warlock decks. With that said, I think you could actually push this a bit more considering the deckbuilding cost. I feel like this could be pushed to 4 mana, maybe at the cost of a stat point somewhere. Not many ways you can break Demons by cheating them out on turn 4, anyway. Warlocks have been doing it since Naxxramas!

I made a fun custom expansion called Holidays at Un'Gol Island. You should check it out :)

Yeah, about what I expected. Zombeast Hunter is still something I'd like to see in the future, but I admit it felt quite forced for this comp. And yes, finding good art for it was impossible. I'm glad to hear Captain Shivers is well received.

I think the switching tribe effect works well on this. Since the effect itself is pretty strong, this makes the player dependant on the current orientation, which makes it difficult to plan rapid fire summons. I do understand peoples concern for its on-curve potential. Since the deathtrattles you trigger are likely from minions played last turn, I don't think its value would be too damaged by increasing the cost by 1 or 2 (+ increase its stats a bit).

Nice catch with the Darkmoon Races miniset. The art fits it very well and I would have probably overlooked it.

    Wailor
Elemental + Totem seems difficult from a deckbuilding perspective. Totem decks are in my experience forced to go all-in on Totems.

I like Deadmoon Raider. The main problem with it is that the Rush effect wants to be a passive, but the Reborn effect has to be a battlecry or you'll have to replace the Rush with something else. I still think it has a lot of potential.

I can't help but compare Blackgill Cultist to Gorloc Ravager considering both have a tutored draw and identical statlines. What makes Blackgill Cultist interesting in comparison is that it could give an expensive Demon a Murloc-cost. At 5 Mana you'll be able to play the Demon on turn 6, but the Murloc will be a dead card considering its increased cost. I think it could use a few extra statpoint so you don't waste a turn setting up to play a big card slightly earlier. There's also no big Demons in Standard this year, so I think this should at least be in a different expansion.

    Neoguli
The idea of combining these requirements that are common for their types is quite neat. It's a solid card, although the effect isn't particularly exciting. I do think it could use an extra statpoint since 4 Mana is on the higher side for card generation and the battlecry already has a requirement. I see you've already submitted though.

    Demon
Quite powerful, but since you can't control targets and probably also need some smaller Elementals (and/or Dragons) to make the deck work, it's probably not too crazy for a Legendary. 7 Mana might still be low for a Neutral? Overall a very cool card.

    Moondreamer
Great job on the rework! What I  like to add to others' feedback is that you should keep in mind that a buff only being able to affect specific minions is a downside you should take into consideration.

    anchorm4n
I agree that this is a very minor synergy and even if it technically counts will likely lose a point for it. I recommend trying something else.

On a sidenote, do make sure you get some decent art. You don't want an Eversong Reanimater situation. I spent a while looking for art and couldn't find anything decent. So if you can't find any, make sure you have a backup plan that you might still be able to get some feedback on.

    BasilAnguis
I don't like that the text is very small, which is a shame, because it's a cool effect. I'm also conflicted on whether 3 damage is too much, because it is very easy to activate the effect again the second turn and it even hits the hero. But 2 damage might not be big enough considering how difficult it is to keep the chain going afterwards. Any chance you'll lose the Elemental tag?

    Me0203
I'm afraid that these probably won't count for this comp. Volatile Experiment doesn't interact with two specific minions types. And I do consider Amalgam or "All" a minion type, but by definition you can't pair it with a single other type (let alone an unspecified one) since that type is already included in "All". And on a sidenote, Imp isn't a minion type, although I agree that not all Imps having "Imp" in their name is very confusing.

Alright, I guess I'll up the cost of Drex :P I should also include the word "friendly" in there, as well: surprised no one noticed that he can proc off of enemy Deathrattles...including myself lol. Not super happy to nerf him to 5, but that's the cost of doin' business...

Well, hope this art is better because it is literally the only one there is. Somehow the main current villain of WoW has no official art or fan art besides this (except a porn pic). Everything else is screenshots from cinematics or her 3d model posed weirdly. Hope the text looks bettern now, played a bit with the editor. Also changed infuse with imbue to not confuse with previous infuse keyword.

linkblade91 - sorry for skipping you. I like your card because it fits both hunter themes (mech and beasts being main tribes) and it implements an effect that appeared in the class before but in a new way. Still i think it's the sort of deign to be either broken or worthless, like with a lot of recent hunter legendaries (Wing Commander Ichman, Tavish Stormpike).

Me0203 - Honestly i feel using amalgams here is a bit of cheating the intended point of the contest. That aside the cards are also kinda… weird. I don't get what Volatile Experiment even does. It gives tribes from the board to minions in your hand? if so it's a really bad way to formulate it. Tur'ribe is just bad. Bad stats for the cost, asks you to have played 2 of 6 amalgams that exist in the game and the payoff is not worth it.

Wailor - Like it a lot but please put it at 4 mana. We already have Gorloc Ravager with same stats and similar effect. If you wanted to make like a warlock version of him… fine. But this card is already heavily played in warlock to tutor Mutanus and gigafin so it's like you have 4 of the same minion almost.

    I'll boop you

That art is definitely better :) And "imbue" is a better word; I guess you're good to go!

@Me0203 I have to agree with the others about your cards not being okay for the comp :( They're definitely interesting, but they don't meet the "interact with exactly two types" requirement...

I've submitted considering all feedback you guys gave. That said, some feedback of my own:

    Me0203
As many people have pointed out, your cards don't qualify. However, I think you could combine both ideas in a Amalgam Legendary with the following text:

Battlecry: If your deck contains exactly two minion types, give both types to all minions in your hand, deck and battlefield.

It should have vanilla stats, as it's not a very strong effect. Alternatively, you can make it so that it also gives +1/+1.

    BasilAnguis
The new artwork looks much better. The textbox is too crammed, but I don't think you can write this effect in a less wordy way (I tried).

Thanks to all who gave me feedback, especially Wailor - I've yet to dredge up much more elegant than your idea. With some shame, I've used a close neighbor to it for my submission. Thank you!

    Better call Thrall!

I'm assuming this has already been noticed, but just in case it slipped by: "Your Entry" unintentionally shows the card description twice.

Yeah I think that's an accidental side-effect of including the description as part of your entry now, so it will show up in the finalist voting. Thankfully harmless, if a bit wonky to see lol

I think there is a problem with the voting page. I noticed it last week and this week it happened again. I voted on the individual slideshow page (where it shows only 1 card then changes to the next), then waited a day or two, then voted again, then after the submission phase ended i went to vote on the last submissions that i missed. It told me i voted on all 18/18 entries but when i went to the big voting page with all the cards, there were like 5 that weren't shown to me in the slideshow and which i had not voted on. Which wouldn't have had my vote unless i specifically checked the full submission page. This seems like a fairly big bug cause cards could miss out on a lot of votes this way. Doubt most people check the full page after the slideshow tells them they've seen all the cards.

    I'll boop you

I believe this was an already existing problem, at least for me. I always go to 'your voting page' at the end of the week to compare the cards (sometimes I adjust the rating of the earlier submissions now that I have more to compare them to). This week there was one card that didn't show in the initial slideshow for me as well. Never really thought much about it. Still, five is an exceptional amount.

My theory was that it may have been caused by the page reloading. I'd have to test it out next week, but perhaps when the page reloads, it sends you to the next submission while claiming you've seen the previous one. My phone automatically reloads the page when I open Chrome, so I figured it was caused because I occasionally forget to exit the slideshow voting page. Although based on your timeline it should have reloaded twice at most, so there's probably something more going on. How often did you check your voting page last season? Because if you didn't have this problem back then, something must have definitely changed. And what are others' experiences with this?

Hmm....I have not experienced this myself. I'm wondering if it occurred during a Bad Gateway error? Then, when you reloaded the page, it skipped over the entry because it erroneously believed you had seen it already. I say this because we were dealing with some issues earlier this week - including a Denial of Service attack on Thursday - and that might be the culprit.

Please bring it up if you experience this again; we'll look into it in the mean time. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.
