What Are You Playing? - Splendid September 2025

Brand new month. Brand new thread.

I'm in the middle of playing some of my Steam backlog whilst inevitably buying more games later down the road and making that backlog even bigger. I do intend to update my Steam wishlist, and the number of perfect Steam games I have has gone up to 14. My most recent addition to that collection is Sleeping Dogs.

  • So I got a new job and had not much time to play so I was mostly playing Pokemon Masters EX (Got amazing pulls this annieversary) and also AC Odyssey.

Really want to get silksong but I just can't buy it right now and wil have to wait for next month when I will have to travel a lot, so it will be a perfect purchase for my switch.

On other news, yesterday was my birthday and some friend got my Expedition 33, so I will probably get straight into it aftet I finish (or feel finished) with AC.

By the way, I have sleeping dogs on my steam account since june 2021. Got it with some steam store credit on a crazy 85% discount in argentina when we still had local pricing (pretty much paid pennies for it) and it has been sitting there for a while as It was more of an Impulsive purchase and have heared good stuff about it but do not know anyone IRL that has played it.

How would you rate it? (Not necesarilly out of 10 as sometimes numbers are not good enough to rate feelings) Have seen it on my backlog quite a few times and thought about it but never got to sit and play it. I might just need a last push to get into it after Expedition 33

(edit: made the numbers and I paid around 0,64USD for it + Just Cause 3 complete) and that was a crazy month for me, got around 30 games (started making a list, but it got way bigger than expected) for that kind of prices.) All this makes it make more sense it ended up in the backlog and also most of my backlog is from that month.

Sleeping Dogs is very underrated. Not necessarily by people, but by culture (if that makes sense). It's a Grand Theft Auto clone set in Hong Kong, but calling it a "clone" would be a disservice to its story, environment, and tone.

The best way to go into it is to play it because I'd rather not spoil any details for you if you don't know them already.

I know pretty much nothing about it as I prefer going in blind when possible. Just saw a bit of combat and nothing else.

        Thank you very much! :D

  • Sleeping Dogs was such a sleeper hit. I bought it during some random sale years ago and went in with low expectations, but it really impressed me. The melee combat was way more satisfying than most open world games, and the driving was surprisingly good too. I feel like it never got the attention it deserved, probably because it was competing with GTA at the time. Definitely a shame it never turned into a big series. If you just added it to your perfect list, I can see why.

Right now I'm splitting time between Fallout: New Vegas and Monster Hunter Rise. Fallout has been eating up my weekends, while MHR is my "jump in for an hour" game when I don't have the energy for story-heavy stuff. I should really finish a few games before adding more to the list, but my wishlist is already overflowing. Every time I browse Steam I find another "must play" game I'll realistically never touch. Feels like the backlog never shrinks, no matter how much I try.

  • I found your writing very relatable and easy to connect with. It feels like you’re speaking directly to the reader curve rush game online

  • How many of you guys know what this game is? It's a comfortable, little Windwaker-style platformer.

This is just the prologue game, but that's good for me because it means I'll get two perfect Steam games in one.

  • Sounds like we're both in the perpetual backlog cycle! Sleeping Dogs is a great choice, that game has some serious charm. I love finding those hidden gems that really grab you. Speaking of games with a great sense of flow and style, sometimes I just need something quick and satisfying to play and hop on Drift Hunters when I need a quick dose of adrenaline. Do you have any recommendations for games with that same satisfying gameplay loop you enjoy? Maybe I can add to my backlog!
