Scavenging Hyena - Maximal Play Tactics

Submitted 5 years, 1 month ago by

I was wondering if there were guides or stats on when is the best time to play Scavenging Hyena.

Should I mulligan for it and drop it on turn 2. Or mulligan it away and wait until much later, trying to make sure I can immediately power it up?

Usually depends on the meta. Rhino, Unleash, Scavinging is a good combo. But Springpaw and Hyena is good as well.

It's good on curve if you have a 1 drop like Shimmerfly or Springpaw; on coin it's even more good since you can turn 2 coin Hyena into Springpaw.

However, it really depends on the deck you're facing and on the deck you're using. Just be sure that it won't stay a 2/2 for too long unless you want to bait a removal with it.

Yeah it usually depends on what other cards you have to go along with it.

Playing it on curve without having anything in your hand that synergizes with it the following turn is almost never correct.

You want the card to snowball. Hard.

Ideally you play it on turn 4/5 paired with Springpaw or Unleash the Hounds. Trade all your 1/1s into their minions and have a huge threat which wins you the game if the opponent can't clear it.

You shouldn't keep it in your mulligan unless you have a Springpaw or Unleash the Hounds in your starting hand as well AND you're playing against a deck that likes to go wide such as evolve/quest shaman.
