Equality cries in a corner.
PS: so wait, what class is the new Alextrasza? Neutral?
Decent enough stats for a 6-mana card & is an obvious board clear combo when combined with any of the current "cheap, 1-attack Rush" minions and/or Unleash the Hounds in Hunter atm. Could fit nicely into Quest Hunter as some mid-game control just before completing your quest. I'll certainly fold it in and see how it works if I pull it, though probably not worth the dust to craft...
Aoe hunter's mark, very aggressively priced for the card to be good vanilla 6 cost card with very strong effect, Hunter is the best class for dealing exactly 1 damage after mage.
So no Alexstrasza for hunter then? It did seem an odd match, especially with the green poisonous proto-drakes in the other hunter card art.
Anyway, this looks like another attempt at Acidmaw to me (which is fitting with the poisonous theme the class has this time). A bit less fun, but no doubt has a better chance of seeing play since you don't need to hit much to justify playing a 6 mana 7/6.
Decent cost, good stats and an ability with an upside. Good card! Hunters are weak in removal and this card can combo with cards like Unleash the Hounds or Desert Spear (or Dreadscale in Wild) for a clear. A bit different then the Aggro Hunter cards revealed so far xd
Control Hunter? It hasn’t really worked before, but you never know. I don’t have high hopes.
Powerful effect I wonder how good it is in hunter though.
I like Veranus a lot. From a theme standpoint this works very well - the Hunter dragons are poisonous, and I imagine the goal here is to produce a version of "give all your minions poisonous" that isn't way too powerful. Your minions all become able to one-shot your opponents minions, but the effect won't linger if you have high health minions.
The card I think best compares to Veranus is King Mosh. On its own, it sets you up for some very good trades (King Mosh after attacking, Veranus before), and if you've got enough mana to combo this with another card (i.e. Unleash the Hounds, or Dreadscale in Wild), it's an expensive (but effective) board wipe. Like King Mosh I don't think this is an auto-include for Hunter, and maybe not even auto-include in Dragon Hunter, but it's a cool card with an effect that swings tempo enough to make it good.
EDIT: I also think this could be an interesting tech choice for an aggro hunter. Where Spellbreaker is typically used to clear one taunt and push damage, Veranus has the potential to push damage through multiple taunts (at the cost of some weaker minions). That's all a bit dependent on meta, but it could be an interesting application.
Has also great synergy with Explosive Trap

Kinda like a removal card, but not really. You need to combo this with something to actually get rid of stuff. But it has a good body and the effect is solid nonetheless.
"True mastery takes dedication."
Priest probably
Definitely an effect Hunter can take advantage of, just imagine how scary this would have beenwith the discover class bonus still being a thing.
Who needs consistency when you could have fun?
Equality on body. And it's decent body for its cost. I think this will definitely see play in Highlander and dragon hunter (if that lives up). Works great with 1/1 rush minions
i think with this card ,hunter will keep his dominating place in tier 1
I do find it amusing that this has even the smallest amount of synergy with Toxic Reinforcements.
More seriously, this looks rather strong. Whether it fits in some sort of Dragon Hunter... well, given the cards we've seen so far, I don't think there will be a Dragon Hunter! Hunter only has four dragons, and they don't share much synergy. This fits nicely with typical Hunter cards, though. Small rushes like Springpaw, secrets like Explosive Trap, tokens left behind by mechs, and such. It's rather expensive, but it seems likely to see play regardless.
Better call Thrall!
Paladin: We Druid now
Hunter: We Paladin now
this is amazing in Quest Hunter. I'm running Toxmonger (because fuck crafting Flark for just one more expansion) and it has bailed me out on multiple occasions. This is basically that but so much better.
With Desert Spear you can basically guarantee 2 kills if you just were to drop this on 6....and the late the game goes the better of a comeback mechanism you have. Two card 9-mana combo to clear the enemy board is pretty solid. Not to mention you'll generate a bunch of rushers with Halazzi and Springpaw.
I remember when powerful battlecries came with a stat penalty. I guess vanilla statted board wipes are ok if they require a combo.
Could even run it in highlander. With Spear, Springpaw, Unleash and Explosive Trap you should have enough activators for it to be viable.
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
Good rush hunter card, but I feel the effect is kind of slow and it may not be worth it to combo
Priest is an "EVIL" class: they would not receive Alexstrasza. Neutral is the only option left at this point.
Anyway, I think the card is great. As others have noted, there are plenty of ways to finish the "combo" and send the enemies packing, meaning the Hunter might finally have a "board wipe".
Imho an absolutely crazy card. Very good value, amazing preparation for wiping the board.
Has great synergy with cards like Unleash the Hounds, Springpaw, or the less-popular Halazzi, the Lynx. It will probably see play in a couple of hunter decks, it will by no means be a staple, but it will surely be a powerful card.
I give it a 4/5 for being a very powerful tool, but not enough in itself to make hunter a competitive class, but if hunter does get a powerful deck than this will certainly be worth considering.
Carrion, my wayward grub.
Has pretty good synergy with Explosive Trap and Unleash the Hounds.
That's what Hunters needed - a way to deal with those pesky late game big minions, because DK Rexxar and his horde of poisonous minions are no longer in standard and Hunters mark is soooo expensive and Frozen trap soooo unreliable.

If you don't see how busted this card is you're blind. This isn't a control tool its just a good card. Playing aggro? Its a 6 mana 7/6 that lets you trade well or sets up a defensive/racing Explosive Trap or Unleash the Hounds. You just play this on curve and yes, your opponent can trade their board for it, but they also kind of have to, because it makes it too dangerous not to, since you can easily wipe them back. Its kind of like Sylvanas but way better if you're ahead on board. It lets you chump past Taunts and is a fine tempo minion with a very relevant typing. This seems totally insane to me.
To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of the women.
Man hunter is going to have more control then you can shake a stick at soon. Great card nice body decent effect synergizes well with most of hunter's other cards like hounds and explosive trap. I don't think it's good enough to be an auto include but it will still be very viable.
Self proclaimed good at battlegrounds
Very cool drake for Hunter, has some synergies with cards like Unleash the Hounds and pushes Control Hunter sooo, healthy card.
cool effect but idk, i dont think it's powerful enough to carry a whole new archetype.
Oh I thought this was supposed to be Alexstrasza (although both cards seem similar with the Health-effect). Highlander Dragon Hunter?
The stats are good, the effect is strong and combos well with cards such as Desert Spear, Springpaw, Halazzi, the Lynx, and Unleash the Hounds. I see this card being able to fit in quite a few decks.
I'm just not sure what direction dragon hunter is heading. Cards like Primordial Explorer, Carrion Drake and Emeriss seem to be aiming at a slower dragon deck, but this card and Corrosive Breath are more aggresive and don't seem to work well with the previous cards mentionned.
More dragons? Yes please!
Good card, not great. Useful in secret decks.
What? This seems super strong .. at least in a control dragon hunter (I don't know in what reality this can be possible to exist)
I'm sorry for my bad english :)
i like it. with unleash the hounds and small rush minions is a good board control
I like control hunter, and this works well with either the various swarms of rushing 1/1's or with explosive trap.
Very good combo with unleash the hounds. But I don't think it'll make control-ish hunter a thing. You can play only one copy of it, coz it's legendary. But in dragon archetype it'll have it's place
I like the effect, the stats, the artwork, the theme ...
Well, I like pretty much everything about this one except its name ...
Have they even tried?
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
Decent card, I think it's what Hunter needs if it's a class going for a value.
This card is like basically an opposite version of Eadric the Pure. Would like to hear a loud sound quote of Eadric or similar one onto this dragon, since it has a whole board effect and ruin your opponent's board state.
Very nice board clear option for hunter! Equality+RtH~ Should be good for midrangers
Paladin Hunter looks great!
I like this one - beautiful artwork and good removal effect, on aggressive body. Tackles one of Hunter's weaknesses, which is big minions. Would be happy to open this, highlander will find a place for it.
This is just insane with cards like Unleash the Hounds, Springpaw and Explosive trap. I wish Dreadscale was still in standard.
In my opinion is not a good enough card because of its cost, the life reduction is impactful in combination with Unleash the Hounds, but that's it, it would be much better foritto have less stats and lower cost
This guy is heavy. Good stats and equality effect bonkers. Hunter is paladin now?
Never netdeck, craft Whizbang instead!
Decent stats for the price. Hunter now have a tool to clear several fat creatures in one turn. It can be effective especially now with Desert Spear (swarm of locusts and unleahs the hounds ofcourse too). But the question is what kind of hunter really needs this? It's not a card for any deck, it looks like a good situational card that can fit in highlander deck or in a quest hunter if it becomes playable.
Varanus is an answer to potential decks with huge buffed creatures which may appear - Galakrond taunt warrior, dragon handbuff paladin etc.
Good tempo, but nothing insane, which means probably wont see much play.
This deck is cool. Play it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
This + unleash the hounds, for a clear on you opponent side.
decent body and good control tool
i´m in
Between unleash the hounds, springmaw, the weapon that put a 1/1 rush on the field and the 1 damage twinspell (forgot the names of the last two), hunters have many way to kill multiple midrange-big minions.
Being a dragon it can help with dragon synergy, but for now we didn't see much of it in hunter.
Card seems solid even for highlander hunter, because it runs all the cards mentioned before.
On turn 9 this into Zefris that discover whirlwind is a full board clear for your opponent that left you with a 7/5 and a 3/1, while dealing only 1 damage to the rest of your board.
Good card, but you want to include some pings in your deck to really make use of the battlecry.
Dont know if this will see play in a hunter deck but will definitely see play with discover dragon effects with the new lackey and all. Warrior, mage, priest will definitely will pick this.
After 5 years, devs somewhat decide to give hunter viable control tools. I'm not quite sure it will have an impact in standard mode, but in wild, we might get somewhere. Overall, a pretty good card.
Elders Scrolls : Legends / Runeterra
I don't know. Ever since paladin received a nerf in equality, the famous equality consecration combo stoped beeing played in almost all decks, exeptions made for those looking to discount shivala.
Now, Hunter is by nature agressive. So either this is played for tempo, allowing 1-2 better trades, or wont be played at all, since hunter cant wait for turn 7+ to play a two card combo for board clear.
As fantastic as the effect can be, with a great body even, the card came to the wrong class, and so, won't see much play.
Pretty nice card for Hunter in all formats.
The fact this only affects enemy minions make it really good for retaining your own bigger minions, allowing you to trade off with small rush minions like Springpaw or weapons like Candleshot or Desert Spear. The card also works very well with Unleash the Hounds. Very powerful effect that could help propel a Dragon Hunter archetype, or simply for use in slower mid to late game Hunter decks that require some board control.
Not a bad card it 'll see play in singleton decks and itll be good after the rotation.
This card may not be included in any deck actually but will be discovered very often. The effect is strong with a good value. Not sure it fits hunter though.
I think this is a great card, even if used with let´s say only two 1/1 rushers, the Springpaws, it is still such a good tempo switch
Not so good... Unfortunately there are not so many cards that the hunter can combo with... Unleash the Hounds makes the combo cost 9, not the best...
Can't wait to give dragon hunter a whirl in wild!
The Forgotten Wilds - Druid
coupd be veey strong with halazzi (???), but idk, this feels slow for current hunter builds*
Haha really, for 2 more mana gives you a 7/6 and it only affects minions.
The card is good in stat and it has a good battlecry...but i don't know how much hunter can abuse that. We have Explosive Trap, Unleash the Hounds and rush minion but i don't think this combo will create a solid control hunter.
The perfect setup for an Unleash the Hounds.
Nice to have a board clear-ish card in Hunter.
In past, Hunter needed some draws to be able to build a control deck. After then it needed to change its hero power.
In this expansion, it has almost everything that we can build a control deck with it. Big beasts that we can reduce their costs, Card draws, Boardclears, Removals, Rush minions, Hero card, make hero power targetable etc. Almost everything.
I really wonder we will see a viable control hunter this expansion.
Unpopular Opinion Incarnate
Control hunter playable?
I like it but i dont think that Dragon hunter will be an arquetype
Nice synergy with Unleash the Hounds, but I don't think that control hunter will work. This card could be a nice inclusion for highlander decks, though.
Hunter's mark was too good (with candle shot) that it got nerfed. Now you are casting it on all enemies with a 6 cost 7/6. This is definitely value overload as it gives you advantages in both fast (remove big taunts with lynx etc.) and slower decks.
one-sided equality is a really good effect, just a matter of how efficiently you can use it on 6 mana
Yea the new Alex is neutral. And equality does look pretty bad compared to this XD.
Good stats, Dragon tag, powerful effect. Only downside is that while it applies an Equality style effect, Hunter is probably not equipped to actually clear that board of debuffed minions, so you might still take a beating unless you happen to have Explosive Trap up as well. Hunter has never been particularly good at playing Control style decks so this might not cut it in the end.
Jaina is best waifu. Always.
Yup, pretty good removal with Springpaw, Unleash the Houndsor your existing minions. Even leaves a menacing body afterwards. Although in itself, with no other cards, it's pretty bad.
Hmmm, maybe with Wild Pyromancer and a cheap spell for a 3 card, full enemy board clear?
Put your faith in the Light!
Technically a 2 mana 7/6, considering Equality costs 4.
Rating cards on coolness factor rather than predicting power because I like screwing up rating averages (and because I suck at predicting real power levels, but we'll ignore that LUL)
Wins per class (2/6/22): DH-197; Druid-996; Hunter-91«60; Mage-1056; Paladin-1126; Priest-746; Rogue-961; Shaman-1095; Warlock-871; Warrior-906
Awesome card for clearing the board in combination with other hunter cards and Zephrys the Great. The only downside it's the cost.
Looks really powerful, but it's Control Hunter we're talking about - it won't be broken. I like it.
Interesting card. I'm not exactly sure which deck archetype it would fit into currently, but clearly the effect could be powerful when combined with Unleash the Hounds, Explosive Trap, or a minion that does AOE damage like Dragonmaw Scorcher. If the meta ends up being based around huge boards with well-statted minions, this could be very useful.
This plus Unleash the Hounds results in rare Hunter board clear, but I'm afraid that Hunter control archetype doesn't have enough support.
Fun and interactive game.
after spending 6 mana u can't do much dat turn. but it will be fun to crush your opponent when he thinks dat last big taunt minion is going to save him
This plus Unleash the Hounds is an obvious combo, but you have to wait until you have 9 mana for it to work.
Seems strong but also not strong enough to see real play, I don't really know if it will find a home.
