This going to see play, no doubt ; a common card, with a great removal potential, that has a dragon tribe tag - and so can be discovered within that pool - great for an effective tempo swing. Stats aren't impressive, but at this point, its best that way so they won't have to nerf it a week after ^^

Edit: Figured I should precise that Wild is an existing play mode, and that Dragon Priest is still a viable tempo oriented option.

It doesn't fit res priest, that's for sure.. but it's a dragon and it's normally kills a minion, I wasn't sold on the card but the dragon tag makes it leagues better.. just need a dragon that is a win condition for priest..

definitely fits a highlander priest deck though.

Barely playable.  In the past Priest has been given cards that reduce enemy minions' power so this synergizes quite well with them -- not.  Really, Priest needed help in Standard.  Especially Galakrond Priest.  So far all I've seen is borderline crap.  Wake up Blizzard!

It'll not really see much play until rotation, and even then I have doubts.

TBH, it's a perfectly fair card, removal effect paired with a solid body for it's mana cost... And that's why it will not be played.

The Priest Dragon synergy cards recently feel a lot more fair than what some of the other classes have gotten, which while better for the game I guess, really doesn’t do much to help out the class. At least you don’t need to be holding a dragon at the moment for this one? Dunno if that’s gonna be enough for it though

Who needs consistency when you could have fun?

I doubt it will see play unless a tech card against some annoying combo/taunt decks. It's just too expensive.

    Solid Tempo/Midrange drop.*

*For any class that isn't Priest.

I fixed your statement for you. Priest needs a lot more Tempo support cards before this will see much play.

    My statement was already correct.

This IS a solid Tempo/Midrange drop.

The fact there is no fitting deck for Priest at the moment does not invalidate the truth of my comment.

As someone else already mentioned, this is a single target lightbomb with a minion attached. Useful for cannot be target minions, a situational substitution for the shadow word spells, possible evolve target with lackeys. It just needs a deck that needs such a card.

Unfortunately, common sense isn't as common as it should be.

That card is like Vilespine Slayer, a good tempo card that kills a minion and leaves a solid body on the board.

But priest doesn't have a viable tempo deck right now, maybe next year that card will shine.

If this were a tempo card, that might matter. This is a control card.

One of the better cards to get randomly off of Galakrond's invoke, maybe a dragon galakrond priest could work?

    Gosh dang it, cards bad.

Absolutely underwhelming if you'd ask me. Priest can already remove Minions for less and way more effective. And even though you get a „free" 4-4, guess what? You're still playing Priest! A Class that rarely cares about Tempo. And if they do, they'd rather play cheap Minions with High Priest Amet than a 6 Mana Card.

It's a worse Vilespine Slayer for a Class that doesn't have much support for a Tempo oriented Playstyle.

Any card that doesn't fit res priest is a plus. Hope this helps creates other priest archetypes.

What are you all on about calling this a tempo card? First guy in the thread said it's a tempo card so now everyone is judging it like it's a bad tempo rogue card. Think for yourself please. This is more of a control card. It's closer to Omega Devastator than Vilespine Slayer. You hold it until turn 6....then you keep holding it until it's the right moment to use it, which will often be when there's an 8/8 you need to remove.

I for one am glad to finally see priest get a proactive tempo card for once. More of this please! Seems like a solid card even with no further support. This is a lot like a Vilespine Slayer, removal on a stick at an affordable price. This will definitely see play in standard at some point, and it probably will see play in wild as well. It's not just good tempo, it's a form of single target removal that plays around a lot of the counters to single-target removal, like secrets and the evasive non-keyword.

Edit: regarding the whole tempo/control debate: a card that generates tempo can still be good in a control deck. If you can remove a big threat and make a mid-sized dude in the process on turn six that means you can probably spend a small amount of resources to control the board on the subsequent turn. Most control decks don't have the removal to clear every single board, they have to force their opponent to overcommit in order to use their mass-removal cards efficiently. Also, having several different options to take care of different types of boards is generally a boon to the control archetype, CF control warrior all of last year. Aeon Reaver can reset a board for a turn so you can save that Mass Hysteria for an even more threatening board. It can punish a player for not committing heavily enough or only playing one big minion by creating a huge tempo swing.

Not to mention, a lot of aggro decks in particular are terrible at swinging back tempo in their favour. If you do manage to bully them off the board with a mass-removal, they will often only be able to play one thing per turn, making a two-for-one tempo swing with a card like Aeon Reaver very powerful as a followup to a board clear.

    I've been seeing alot of comparisons with Vilespine Slayer but heres some differences to consider;

    - Vilespine Slayer destroy the minion. Aeon Reaver merely deals damage to it. Means it can't go through divine shields.

    - Aeon Reaver deals damage equal to the target's damage. It is therefore not a guaranteed kill. Most pro players generally believe health to be better than damage and therefore more cards in standard decks generally reflect that. Its worth noting that most taunts do not have more damage than health. So as a tempo tool, this can sometimes be a whiff

    - Priest decks are usually combo or control. The closest priest deck that isn't that, is spiteful priest. This would fit rightly inside that. But aside from that, you'd have to go back to year 1 of hearthstone to find anything remotely close to a midrange or aggro deck (with more than 50% win rate). Aeon Reaver is more a tempo card, since priest often have better control options for removal than this.

Given that there's quite a lot of tempo tools provided to priest I think this is the direction team5 wants priest to go into. Probably as a prelude to HoF-ming Divine Spirit come Apr 2020.

It is a common card that can remove deathwing or giant and leave 4/4 on board for 6 mana. Situational, but me like.

I do what I must, when I must. Know this well.

I think Big Game Hunter is a fair comparison to this card. He costs one less and can bypass divine shield, but this guy can take out a 6/6 or 5/5.

Maybe a new dragon control priest tool? If that is a thing?
