Some Advices for 1st Day and Week of Open Beta
Hello Guys !
The Open Beta begins in less than 10 hours for players who pre-registered and who played in previews so I wanted to write some advices here for who couldn't follow news and couldn't play in previews.
Firstly, here is the countdown if you want to check how much times left to release.
First things first;
Don't forget it is open beta state - There might be more aggressive tweaks/nerfs/buffs on cards so be cautious to craft cards and be cautious to choose your starting Region.
Firstly, You will play tutorial and Prologue and game will give you these starter decks;
Deck ID Not Found
Deck ID Not Found
Deck ID Not Found
If you want, you can build some decks with these cards but for some time before some rewards, They will be ok while you are learning the game's mechanics.
After your prologue, it probably chooses Noxus for your region. If you want to change it, you can change it in regions tab.
Choose your region according to what you like to play. I mean, The Archetypes. Don't choose it for its power in my opinion because there might be some aggressive tweaks in a month because it is beta. If you want to go for aggro, you may choose Noxus or Shadow Isles, If you like combo style more, try Ionia or Piltover&Zaun, there are some fancy combo opportunities in Shadow Isles and Demacia (Fiora)as well but the other two has more resources for it, If you like control you can choose Shadow Isles or Freljord, Midrange is best with Demacia but all of the regions have great Midrange canditates except Piltover&Zaun, and lastly if you want ramp style Freljord will be your choice.
Also try to get 8 level in every region instead of focusing only one. There are Champion Capsules as a reward at 8th level for every region. It will also help you to collect some rares and commons of every region and you might build more efficient decks.
After you choose your region to start, it is time to play !
Weekly Vaults will be your main source to collect cards with your regional rewards and it will give you Expedition token if you reach 10+ level. With Open Beta, There will be also a free Expedition token at start. Don't forget to play your Expeditions with your token because up to 3 Expedition runs, you will get 1x Champion wildcard. Weekly, it will give you 3x Champion Wildcards if you play all. There will be no rewards unfortunately if you play your 4+ Expedition run.
Weekly Vaults will be reset at Tuesdays so play as much as you can until tuesday to be able to open at least level 10 Vault. Maximum Vault level is 13 but doing just daily quests will give you 10 level Vault according to what Riot said us.
You will be given experience points also for your losses until 20 lose and wins will give you experience until 30 wins. If you reach the cap, Play some AI games because AI games will also give you experience points and their experience points are seperated from versus player experience points. I really liked this because it makes us more happy to try some of our shitty decks on AI and we will get rewarded to doing so!
It will be like;
PvP - 30 wins - 20 Losses
PvAI - 20 wins - 10 losses
There will be no experience points after this moment. Only extra experience poins different from these are Expedition run's bonus experience so;
I recommend you to play all(3) Expeditions until Tuesday to be able to collect champion cards. It will be also wiser even you don't like draft mode because it costs only 4000k Shards which Champion Wildcards is also same cost and it is guaranteed to get a champion card even you lose your drafts and Expedition runs will give you bonus experience points when you finish them.
If you will buy wildcards with coins, don't hurry to craft some champions. Wait for a bit, because;
1- You might regret after a while
2- You might get what you want from Capsules (i'm saying this but there is no-duplicate rule in Runeterra for Champion cards and Epic Cards. The reason I'm saying this, You might want to save those Wildcards for future.
3- If you can be patient for 4 months and you are planning to buy all of the wildcards as you can in next weeks, you can save 48 champion wildcards for next expansion and that means total of 16 x3 champion wildcards. You can craft whichever champion you want from next expansion ! You just need to be patient and play like a f2p player at start while you are stacking those wildcards. Be Patient !
And don't take it serious but don't craft Teemo at start !
No, I'm serious ! Don't do that !
I am saying this because almost all people are planning to play hyper/normal aggro at first day and all of Teemo decks are vulnerable against aggro sadly except Full Elusive deck without puffcap cards.
And last ! There is already a deck tracker here;
There will be also some account statistics with deck tracker if you open an account on Mobalytics. Noone tried the decktracker yet so noone knows how it will be but it is the only one I know.
Well, I've finished now. Don't forget to check Open Beta Patch Notes and Open Beta Economy Updates !
Also, if you have any other advices, feel free to share here.
Good luck on your run and See you in Runeterra in 10 hours !

i registerd to say thanks for this, very helpful.
Nice work putting this together. I wasn't aware there was a deck tracker, although it being made by Mobalytics makes me hesitant (they tend to be pretty amateurish about things in my opinion; their resources for TFT are woefully ill-informed). Still, might be worth a punt if it correctly interfaces with Expeditions.
I see you when you're sleeping; I'm gone before you wake
I'm not as good as turn 4 Barnes; But I'm at least a Twilight Drake
Thanks a lot - this answers to several questions I had :)
A few more:
- is there a limit / expiration date for wildcards or can I collect as many I want and keep until I am ready to use?
- which champions do you think are the best (and the worst, in addition for Teemo)?
- will "vaults" expire ? (i.e. if I cannot connect on tuesday, can i open it later in the week?)
Thanks
I am 69 years old and still reach Legend
- There is no limit or experiation date for wildcards as I know. You can collect and stack how much you want.
- In my opinion Zed is one of the best because fits so much decks and archetypes. Worst is Teemo right now probably. That being said Karma is one of the worse ones too because she needs late game to be efficient but She is my favorite so I won't call her bad. :)
- Probably you can, I don't think they will expire. We don't know because we didn't play that long before :)

I've actually been focusing on Expeditions.
You don't have to worry about a ranked meta, so it seems like a great way to flesh out the collection before trying to put together a deck for ranked play.
I guess after my third, I'll have to make the leap, though...
I too have found Expeditions very interesting, far more than Heartstone's Arena: the chance to modify your deck after each match (swapping cards or adding new ones) and also the more friendly "loss two consecutive games" before getting out are what I like the most about them.
But also constructed feels pretty good, mostly because almost no one can get a complete deck already thanks to the shop's limitation. Maybe next week things will be already different after everyone will open their treasure box.
"For what profit is it to a man if he gains the world, and loses his own soul?"
Thanks for the tips, I do have a couple questions.
Shouldn't we level regions to 7 instead ? The champ reward seems to be at this level (I did get Yasuo but it was on an epic loot so dunno).
Also, is there a way to disenchant cards or it's not permitted ? I usually focus on a narrow set of classes (here regions) but I'll be unable to do such a thing if I can't scrap the cards I'll not play :<. This can come awkward if your favorite tailored deck is nerfed (wanted to try Karma Braum first but the nerfs...).
You will eventually get all regions to max (20?); its just a question of where you want to be putting your XP each day. I think the best choice for that depends entirely on your preferred playstyle(s), how much you want to play, and what cards you open. Almaniarra obviously is having fun playing a lot and experimenting with everything, so for him it probably is best to hit every region to ~5 because that will net him the most cards. For context: I played last night for ~3 hours, and I only got through the Prologue and ~Level 3 on my first region.
It is not possible. Allowing you to disenchant would speed up the process of building finely tuned decks, and Riot wants to keep it slow.
I think the idea is that it will help keep the meta fresh longer if we don't all copy-paste the three "best" decks in the game after one week of play.
I wouldn't worry too much about nerfing. Even when they make balance changes, they don't seem to nuke any deck or strategy into oblivion. Their goal is to make things fair, not completely remove a deck from play.
Yeah, When I wrote this the game was not active so I wrote it how I remember, It should be exactly the 8th level. I've corrected in the OP. Thanks for warning. :)
Also, There is no disenchanting in the game but it seems we won't need it, I mean, I'm already maxed my Weekly Vault in two days. I don't know but it really seems quite reachable so quick to complete set in my opinion.

Yeah the weekly vault seems fairly easy to level. I played a couple days now and it's already 9/13.
Its ok if I don't do all 3 Expeditions by this Tuesday, right? I've tried, but they take so long and I'd rather take my time and enjoy myself than grind to squeeze every drop of XP possible.
We have 3 free Expedition entries? I thought we got only one token.
1 token is redeemable for 3 individual runs, and each run has 2 trials so its up to 6 attemtps total.
EDIT: OK I would have sworn when I popped my token it said something about having 3 Expeditions, but no--it is 1 per token. Sorry everyone for the false information.
I got double 7 yesterday it gave 3500 Shards + other rewards. So if you can go at least one 7 from one of your trials, it gives you another expedition chance + 500 Shards + other rewards.

Ofc, it is your choice. I just shared these because someone might want to gain all experiences and chances efficiently. :)

I really got only one (run). Do you need to reach 7? I didn't.
heres another tip. if u play a slow deck or a control deck vs an aggro ioania deck just concede and move on. dont lose ur time in a match where u are about to win but ur opponent just saves its double deny and u lose on the spot against a card that was probably created for control decks like in magic but its idiotic brain dead aggro that uses it. dont waste ur time
I also don't get the 3 expedition thing, I used my token and completed my first expedition but I didn't get any other run
you don't get any token for completing first token. I just meant that instead of spending 3000 shards to a champion card, just go in expedition. It also costs 3000 shard and 1 champion card is guaranteed. So, Expedition will give you 1 Champion + more. Well you might want to craft target champion instead of a random one but I don't think this is necessary in this game. Wildcards already are doing that.

A quick question. Today we can open the vault chest but I haven't managed to get to level 10 yet. I should be able to grind out some exp today and then open it at level 10?
Yeah that was my bad--I thought I saw an in-game message when I popped my token about getting 3 runs but its 1 token for 1 run / 2 trials. 3 is coincidentally also the soft-limit for number of expedition per week (i.e., if you're buying extra tokens with gold or shards); for your 4th and on they dramatically reduce the rewards.
I think last week is done--there was a timer on it, implying everyone rolls over at the same second. But look on the bright side: now you can get a jump towards level 10 for next Tuesday!
Can confirm, I tested this when I started playing Tuesday night. Won 1 match against AI, and the game showed the XP flowing into my (unopened) level 12 vault. However, when I actually went to open the vault, those 50 XP were not included; instead, after receiving my rewards, the new vault was now at 50 XP. So you definitely can't keep leveling your vault past the Tuesday deadline. On the bright side, you don't get penalized in case you forget to open your vault right away; any XP you accrue will already be counted for the new week's vault.
