Blizzard May be Reverting Card Nerfs on the Next Set Rotation

Oh boy! Dean Ayala has announced that some cards may be getting their nerfs removed when the next expansion releases.

Dean was out on the official forums very late last night talking about the Standard meta where he dropped the bomb. We don't know which cards will be changed back to their original glory or if they will being doing so at all, but we should expect an update "soon". If I were to gamble, I'd expect to see that information alongside the "Year of the" announcement that is likely hitting at the end of this month.

Eligible Cards Nerfed During Year of the Dragon

These are all the card changes we saw during Year of the Dragon that will be rotating into Wild this April.

The changes to Extra Arms and Luna's Pocket Galaxy are not listed here since they both were buffed and then reset back to their original costs and we're not sure if that makes them eligible.

For Wild, we’re looking at some of the nerfs we made to cards that rotate into Wild with the next expansion and seeing if we want to revert any of them. Will have more updates on that soon ™. Good luck and have fun!

  • What? Yogg thumbnail but the article does not mention him?

I don't care about any of that. But please, unnerf Yogg-Saron, Hope's End, he is a freakin Old God and yet he is just a joke compared to the Puzzle Box of Yogg-Saron, which is 10 spell guarantee without any need of spell stacking. And you can have two in the deck. Just WTF, do it. Praise Yogg!

Yogg does not need to be unnerfed.

If you die, could you continue casting spells? No. Why should Yogg be any different?

      • Shudderwock can continue it's battlecries after dying, or getting transformed. So why shouldn't Yogg-Saron, Hope's End be able to continue casting spells? and to top that off Puzzle Box of Yogg-Saron is literally a (more) reliable Yogg, and you can have multiple copy's of it in your deck....

Because he is... a FUCKING GOD!!!!

      • Logical arguments do not apply on meme cards, don't you know that?

  • I feel like they won't change reckless but at the same time shes eligible since the echo change.

    • Yeah back when that Echo change went through there was a lot of complaints about Reckless Experimenter still being nerfed so I definitely think there is a really good chance that is one of the reverts. They can always nerf it again in the future should it become OP.

No, they will not revert Reckless Experimenter.

        • based on....?

          • Okay, I'm not saying there's no way they would, but I think they would find that not reverting the nerf would be helpful in reducing the risk of some deathrattle costing 0 in the future. My guess is that maybe they want to stick with the principal (in the future) that nothing should be able to be reduced to 0. Though the main counter to my argument is Sorcerer's Apprentice being able to make plenty of Mage's spells cost 0 (not excluding the iconic Exodia Mage)

        • are your working for blizzard

  • Reckless Experimenter makes sense since they changed the entire mechanic to alleviate the problem.
Ghostly Charger was changed for aesthetic reasons, so I doubt that changes.
Boom, GI, and Raiding Party would all make sense.

Frankly, I think Raiding Party could be reverted in standard now, since they finally nerfed Preparation.

    • I'm curious to see if 3 mana Raiding Party will be enough to allow a resurgence of Kingsbane Rogue.

In a meta full of Combo decks (Quest Mage, Mecha'thun Warlock above all) I think it could fit nicely.
