Experience gain from expeditions ?

Hello,
I went on a Runeterra expedition with 7 wins on first run and I stopped with only 1 win during the second run (I read it was pointless to continue).
Somehow I only got 300XP (I expected 2000XP for 7 wins) and then I got the capsule and shards.
What did I do wrong ? Was it a mistake to start the 2nd run ? Or did they lower the XP gain to 300 for 7 wins ?
Feedback would be appreciated.

I’m pretty sure each Trial awards separate XP, and it is awarded right at the end of the trial. So, you probably got 2300XP tota

Yup, each trial gives you xp right after you finish it, so you got the xp for 7 wins before you started 2nd trial. That being said, its not pointless to play out the 2nd trial, you get more xp and also you can just enjoy the game mode and try out some strategies you wouldnt otherwise. Only thing it costs is your time, which is important, so not playing it out can be a correct choice, just that it should be made with that in mind, not skip it cause someone said its pointless :)

Indeed it's not pointless. Moreover you get bonus xp for each run. Lesson learned !
Also, free runs (after your third in one week) offer ONLY the bonus XP -- no shards or capsules. For this reason, free runs are single trials only, not best of two (since best of two is used only to determine the amount of shards and capsules, not XP).
additionally to that free runs are on average a better way to get experience than just playing regular games since on average you're gonna get around 300-500 more experience for the same amount of time
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
